My Mama actually did say this two days before she transitioned into her next iteration. My mom never said things like this and so I knew she had connected with this TRUTH right before her physical self ceased to be. The work, then, is to bring all the parts and pieces home to the whole. I'm talking about each of our beings that have been separated by hurt, pain, trauma - each of us has, in some way and to some extent ... bringing all that together and unifying the WHOLE SELF. What this requires is BEING WHO YOU ARE in each moment. This sounds simple. But it is not easy. Because it requires each of us to be REVOLUTIONARIES of the MOMENT. To buck conventions that comfort us yet are strangling the very life out of us and to challenge cultural norms that run SO DEEP that are cutting off our LIFE FORCE ENERGY. This is not done in one fell swoop. This is done consciously. Moment by Moment. Each person. You, me, all, being the TRUTH that you, I, and ALL know how to be in that MOMENT. This is MESSY work. This is PAINFUL work. And it is what is needed. We will be lulled into thinking that everyone needs to respond ONE way. But this is simply recreating a paradigm of sameness. Everyone's TRUTH is unique to them. We must ALLOW our differences space to BE. And it order to do THAT. We must ALLOW our very SELVES the space to BE. To fail, to fall, to hurt. And yes, to rejoice, to love, to embrace. Be YOU. It IS the Revolution. I'm working on my second book, Suburban Shame. For a long time I was living life more worried about what I or others thought I should be doing than actually simply being who I was. I was not conscious of this until I was. The thing about the "shoulds" and the "supposed tos" is that they cut us off from our essence - our JOY! It's not an easy road to truly BE WHO YOU ARE. It requires massive self-love, compassion and understanding.
