Watch HOW TO FIND YOUR PURPOSE here.
To be honest, I’ve never asked myself the question “What is my purpose in life?” But what I did ask myself hundreds of times is “How do I find what makes me truly happy?”, “How do I choose the right career for me?”, “How do I know where I want to be in a few years?” We all want to live a fulfilled and happy life, full of Joy, Abundance, Happiness and Health. All we need to do for that, is to become who we truly are.
You might ask yourself two questions now: Why? & How?
So why do we need to become who we truly are in order to find out our purpose in life? Well, the answer is quite simple:
- If you know who you are, you’ll know what you want.
- If you know what you want, you can start taking actions towards those goals.
- If you start working towards your goals, you’ll succeed.
- If you succeed with what you want while being who you are, it leads you to happiness and personal fulfilment.
Tadaaa, you found your purpose. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? But … How do we do that? For becoming who you truly are you need to understand the conception of our “personalities”:
OUR EGO: (almost) not influenceable, inner self which operates subconsciously, also: our “soul”
OUR INTENTIONAL SELF: how we want to be perceived; our actions, thoughts, our behaviour
HOW OTHERS SEE US: other peoples reality of our personality, important: their reality, not ours, which basically means its none of our concern
Because we do have no influence on the third part, we can focus on the first and second: Our Ego and Intentional Self. The goal is quickly expressed in one equation:
“Ego” + “Intentional Self” aligned = Our True Self
Okay, so lets dive into our “Intentional Self” first: Through observing our behaviour, our actions and our thoughts we can point out our goals, aims, strengths and possibilities. We can picture what we’re good at, what we have fun with, what puts a smile on our face, and of course also what we dislike. Result: we can point out our TALENTS, PASSIONS & INTERESTS.
Focusing on the “Ego”, we already figured out that this not (or just to a certain point) influenceable by us. In other words, its our uniqueness, its what makes us us. Here’s the mistake many people make: In order to “fit in” or to be accepted by others, we suppress what we see as “unacceptable”, as flaws, which make us look like misfits, different, abnormal. The result is that we miss out on all the advantages our uniqueness provides. Everyone wants to be something special, somebody outstanding and I do believe that everyone is capable to do so, if we accept and more important, value our uniqueness and use it as our STRENGTHS.
So if we apply that into our equation (for sure the biggest about of math I did since school), it would look like this:
Talents, Passions & Interests aligned with (+) Unique Strengths = Who we truly are & What we truly want.
The outcome of our Intentional Self being aligned with our Ego is us being able to create a life full of happiness, joy and abundance. All that positivity through personal fulfilment attracts more positivity and this leads to an upward spiral to a life worth living, which is my personal definition of a Life Purpose.
