Times my 15-year-old self was actually Marinette
These are extracts from my actual blog from when I was fifteen. I rediscovered it recently and was laughing so hard because I’m basically Marinette (hilariously my crush’s name started with an A as well, I have changed it to Ash (Pokémon reference obvs) for privacy reasons!). It’s quite long so it’s below the cut, but hopefully people will find it as amusing as I did!
...I may regret this.
‘For some reason I was really nervous to be near him. I suppose I haven't seen him for nearly two weeks but still. I just went red every time I was within a meter of him.’
I love how I justified my lack of social ability of being around my crush as I hadn’t seen him for two weeks so I just apparently forgot how to act around him.
‘Yahoo answers reckons he likes me. I don't know anymore.’
This one made me laugh so much, bless my little teenage self using Yahoo Answers for love advice (Mari would totes be on that if she didn’t have Alya - I met my Alya when I was nearly seventeen, hence my need for Yahoo Answers at this point!).
‘I made myself talk to Ash considering I haven't since he hugged me which kind of sends out bad signals.’
Oh my god, anyone who says Mari’s awkwardness around Adrien is too exaggerated needs to come read my blog.
‘Then Rosa was like "ASHHHH!" in her high pitched, really irritating voice and he sort of blankly answered her then turned back to me and I was like PAHA fail.’
I remember this girl, she was super annoying. She wasn’t similar to Chloé in any other aspect than yelling in his name in her high-pitched voice and him looking decidedly underwhelmed by her, but when I read this I laughed so much at the parallels.
‘As he was going through the doors he noticed me and stopped and said "Come on Beckyboo," as he does.’
I am not making this shit up, I totally forgot he called me that hahaha.
‘I totally did the worst bit of flirting (can it even be called that?) ever. Ash said he liked something and I replied with "I like your face."’
I swear I’ve read something similar to this in a fanfic before, but yes, I actually did that. He thought I was being sarcastic and got really offended.
‘Before smiling at him as I walked out, AND I DIDN'T WALK INTO THE WALL; result!’
It was unbelievable how many times I would walk into things, stumble over air or my words or just make a general tit of myself in front of him, seriously.
‘So I have ICT fourth lesson, on the top floor. Ash has Maths, on the opposite staircase on the top floor as well, which I'm next door to for English the lesson after. So before ICT I warned my friends I would quite like to walk extremely quickly to fifth so I can walk past him. So the second Sir said we can go, we ran.’
Can I just thank my friends who literally ran down four flights of stairs then back up another four flights of stairs just so I could WALK PAST the boy I liked? Also I called this blog ‘Stair Crossed Lovers’ and I know Chat would high-five me for that fucking awful pun.
‘I said hi as casually as I could, considering I'd just run eight flights of stairs just to see him.’
I can’t stop laughing. Fifteen-year-old me did not know how to play it cool. If my Alya had seen me back then she’d have rolled her eyes and called me an idiot.
‘It sounds sad but I'll sit in lessons fantasizing over Ash (in a non-sexual way, just to clarify!) when he's sat literally just behind me.’
I mean, no comment needed.
‘Then I made the infamous mistake of when he said his boxers were uncomfortable I told him to take them off.’
Shower scene anyone? Apparently I was as thirsty as Mari.
Those are the main things I found that made me laugh and reminded me of Marinette. In case you’re interested - he actually ended up with someone else, like four days after my birthday, which didn’t last long, but after that I was over him really. He ended up going out with one of my friends and he treated her quite badly so I actually dodged a bullet! I never told him I liked him, and I have no idea if he ever liked me. He was not as amazing as Adrien though, that’s for sure! I have blogs from when I was slightly older and crushing on a different guy, so if people enjoyed this I can maybe try and dig those out for people’s amusement. I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did reliving it!
