Yeah. That’s not good. I will say this, though. I had a few experiences where, despite clearly seeing that you were foreign and trying to speak Spanish and/or a bit of Catalan, some waiters rattled on really fast in Catalan nonetheless.

Really? I've always found the opposite - I'll speak to them (normally in Catalan but sometimes Spanish pops out instead) and they'll reply in English. I've had complete conversations where I'm speaking Spatalan and they're speaking English and it always makes me uncomfortable about my language skills, like... I know I'm nowhere near fluent yet, but it makes me feel like they don't understand me, and that sucks, you know?

It is! But it's also going to be ridiculously embarrassing having to (along with my entire class, of which everybody but six are native Catalan/Spanish speakers) listen to and transcribe myself speaking Catalan and then analyse it... still, it'll be really interesting to see if/how much I've improved. The description of the pictures went really well but the questions were difficult, because it was all very fast and I didn't have much time to think and while I was trying to think, the two people who were 'interviewing' me kept asking me more questions because they thought I didn't understand. I also wasn't able to get any of the more advanced grammar like conditional tenses or pronouns into it because the subject didn't really allow it, which is annoying, but oh well. I didn't transfer from Spanish at all this time and only spoke English once (deliberately), which is a huge improvement from last time so yay!

The transformation…it’s happening! It’s worse when you know the word that you want to say in Spanish, French AND Catalan, but not in English..

Ooo that must be so frustrating! But seriously, how awesome that you can speak that many languages!

Although when I forget a word in English and remember it in other languages, I'm secretly kind of happy because it means I'm actually reaching some level of fluency in that language instead of having it just sort of languishing in my brain and never being used. It's exciting, haha. Monolingual people problems! ;)
