In the town of Blightford, magic is hand-stitched into the snarling roots of an ancient hemlock tree and baked into the craggy soil of a distant riverbed teeming with shellfish and rainbow trout. It’s buried deep in the hallowed veins of Mother Nature, tucked away beneath foundations of gypsum and shale, underneath floorboards waxed to smooth and gleaming.
