out of curiosity, what are ur qualifiers for a fancam? i do like, genuinely want to know, i hope this doesn't come across as mean 😔
Sorry for the delay in answering! And of course it doesn't come off as mean :) I use the old definition I learned in the kpop fandom, in which fancams referred to videos filmed by fans of artists/etc. Usually the fancams were of a specific full performance or event. However, to me it also makes sense to call those shorter, edited clip compilations fancams if the clips are fantaken. But if it's clips from a show, official medium, etc, and not clips filmed by actual fans, then it's pretty antithetical to the word FANcam. The video I reblogged I would personally call a fanvid, but I definitely have seen many people repurpose the word fancam nowadays to refer to those type of videos as a whole. To each their own!
