I wish the Teal Pumpkin Project was a thing when I was growing up
When I was kid in the late 90′s, early 2000′s, my halloween candy was meticulously searched after i returned home from trick or treating for anything that would cause me to have an allergic reaction. Growing up with a food allergy was not fun, quite honestly it as a pain in my butt. I’m grown now, but I hand out treats on Halloween. I learned about the teal pumpkin project last year but did not have the money for it but this year, I proudly have a sign that says “Non-food treats available here.” I want kids with food allergies or kids who cant have sugar, or kids who are too little for it to have a great halloween, too, and to me that’s what the teal pumpkin project is about.
