Graveyard

Graveyard: My character will visit your character’s grave. [ x ]

     ”Maybe… Maybe I should go visit her.”

     ”No. I can’t…"

And three fruitless years of grieving.

          She didn’t regret spending her time doing so. Not at all. But, she was filled with sorrow. Another close person that she cherished… Gone. Why? Why did this always happen to her? She hadn’t experience such loss ever since her mother disappeared. Although this didn’t hurt as much when her mother went away, it still hurts. A lot. The pain was almost unbearable.

     ”I’ll visit… I have to." She made up her mind.

          Hands on the steering wheel, she drove off to the graveyard where Sunmi was buried. Oh, how lifeless her body looked before the burial. It didn’t even look like her, not one bit. She remembered every single bit of details on that day. She knew that approximately 30 close friends were there. A couple hundred fans were there. The weather… It was gloomy— fitting for the event.

          The inscription on Sunmi’s tombstone made her heart ache. A sincere smile washed upon her visage as she bent down, eye level with the stone. “Sunmi,” she started off— strong and unweary, “there are many who miss you, including myself. I hope you’re doing better up there…” Her voice was starting to crack. That strong front that she held up in front of everyone… It was slowly starting to break in front of Sunmi.

          Heaving a deep breath, she continued on. “I… I miss you terribly. I wish that I was there by your side when you passed away. But, no. I wasn’t and I regret every moment of doing whatever I did instead of being next to you.”

Sorry, and I love you.

There was something about death that made Minah uneasy. It wasn't particularly the dying part that bother her. She knew dying and living went hand in hand. What bothered her, made the hairs on her arm stand, and what made her thoughts nearly close off was the fact that everything a person once was just dissipated. They're remembered sure, but they're never remembered exactly the same as they used to be.

Maybe that was why when Minah found out about Sunmi's death, nothing seemed to process. She didn't think, feel, and for a moment, her breath seemed to have caught in her throat. That was the only reaction that she could give when her elderly boss had informed her about her death. He had spoken so clearly and slowly as to make sure that she was not confused about anything. Someone had taken Sunmi's life. Her life was cut shorter than it was supposed to be because someone had carelessly driven while intoxicated.

She left her job early when she found out. She quietly left the shop, not saying anything to anyone and went straight home. The buzzing of her phone went unnoticed as she stood in front of her bathroom mirror. when she looked at herself, she felt nothing. She didn't know what to feel or what to think. She just felt numb. Suddenly, she imagined all of the car crashes she's seen in videos and movies and an image of a surprised Sunmi flashed before her eyes.

Minah was on the floor then, clutching at her shirt as if she were clutching at her heart. All of a sudden, the numbness disappeared and a tornado of feelings swept through her system so quickly that it left Minah in a devastated state of mind. Her eyes watered as the hand that held onto the edge of the counter suddenly fell into her lap. She sobbed and nothing but pain ran through her veins.

"Are you even listening to me?"

His attention retracted to his phone long before she even started talking. Finally lifting his head up to avert his eyes at the other due to her remark, a moment of realization hit him; too caught up in his heedless behavior, an expectant gaze casted over him. “Hm? Yeah.. yeah.”

The question made her body feel tense. Her mind starting to race to find a suitable answer for the other. Once she was ready, she put her hands on her lap and looked up at the other female with a small smile. “Well? What can you say? Family is important because they might be there when no one else it.. I wouldn’t be anything without my family. Why do you ask?”

          Though a short-lived response, most likely due to her unlooked for inquiry, Rena found every ounce of sincerity dwelling within the girl's response. Pulling her knees up to her chest, allowing for her cheek to mash carefully against the joint, she watched on as the explanation had sustained its course, only for her to be left in a dumbfounded state. "I see..I just never understood what it was, really. Until now. Maybe," she puffed a single huff of air through her pursed lips, "I didn't know if I had something like that or not and -- maybe it's wild -- but I thought it'd be best to ask someone who's had experience with it. A hum-- you."
