ㅤ “...is that supposed to be a compliment? listen, i don’t like being in the spotlight and i don’t want to be important to anyone but you. … oh, that’s what you were trying to say? i still think you’ve misapplied the term.”
__candace
ㅤ “of what story? if you mean of my own… isn’t that how it works? but in general, i don’t try to stand out like that.”
__collei
ㅤ “oh, um… is this because of my spontaneous recovery? tighnari says it makes me a bit of a special case, but I'm not sure it's to that extent. i—i appreciate the compliment, of course.”
__cyno
ㅤ “are you trying to tell me i remind you of that one cartoon again? yu-ji-oh, or something? collecting cool cards doesn’t make me a main character, you know. but i’ll accept your compliment, if that’s what it is supposed to be.”
__dehya
ㅤ “really? haha, that’s sweet of you. i don’t think mercs make for the most heroic of main characters, and i don’t think my story is all that special, but you’re real nice to say that.”
__dori
ㅤ “it would suit a main character to be rich, no? i don’t think i’m quiiiiite there. perhaps you can support your idea… financially, hm?”
__faruzan
ㅤ “it is only fitting for you to see me in such a way. as your senior with a past shrouded in darkness, as well as being the brightest scholar of haravatat, i cannot be compared to another in teyvat. that makes for a sufficient protagonist, doesn’t it?”
__kaveh
ㅤ “i—i’m not sure what it is that you want from me. you better just ask it straightforwardly, since i’d rather not think about my existentialism first thing in the morning.”
__layla
ㅤ “oh… a couple different peers of mine have also said i act like one. it doesn’t sound like a good thing.”
__nahida
ㅤ “it is not the archon’s duty to be the main character in her land’s story. i only hope to allow more stories to sprout.”
__tighnari
ㅤ “forgive my disagreement, but i think it naive to believe there are main characters in this world. stories are meant to inspire, and so if i am inspiring to you, i thank you for the compliment. but i am no more important than the creatures and plants and skies of teyvat.”
__wanderer
ㅤ “are you scared of saying something of importance, or do you really just have nothing important to say? don’t insist upon trivial things like that.”

At some point I feel like hoyo needs to give us Kaveh's reaction to Alhaitham burning Azar's shit to the ground. Not for the comedy, though it would be awesome, but for the fact that if Alhaitham had failed, Kaveh would have been completely fucked. Due to the exile, Alhaitham's house, personal property, and money would have been seized by the Akademiya. Kaveh would have returned to Sumeru City homeless and penniless. Worse than that, Kaveh would lose the closest thing to a family that he has, for the sake of Alhaitham trying to do the right thing.
In the current environment, I wouldn't mind Kaveh being a little clingy just because he is fully aware of what could have happened and what he could have lost had things not gone to plan.
I can also see Kaveh not having the best impression of the traveler since Kaveh likely associates them with trouble.
So they rank stupid shit for funsies, especially around exams or dissertations. It's a good way for the students to blow off steam.
One of the more popular polls is naming the sexiest staff member for that academic year. It actually becomes an annual graduation tradition amongst the students.
At first, it's a secret. God forbid the staff or worse, the grand sage finds out. The notion that a serious place like the Akademiya encouraging such folly is absolutely outrageous.
Until someone fucks up and hands the poll off to one of the instructors. From there, it goes from sheer folly to all out war.
The more serious academics can't be bothered, but for those with a sense of humor, they decide to have fun with it. Life under Azar's rule is abysmal and it honestly makes the staff meetings at the beginning of the academic year more interesting.
Hair dye, new clothes, make-up, even a fake vision. All are acquired in the hope of unseating the undefeated champion of the poll.
But it's a lost cause.
None of them are willing to get on Alhaitham's level when it comes to a public display. The "Sex on a Stick" Scribe is a tough one to challenge, let alone beat.
There's always a few groans when Alhaitham walks in the room after an academic break and the staff finds that he hasn't been horrifically mamed or he's decided to dress more conservatively.
The closest to challenge Alhaitham was Cyno. The staff nominated him in pure desperation, and the students were terrified to vote for him. Imagine the General Mahamatra actually finding out he was nominated, never mind winning?
Imagine Alhaitham's amusement when he tells Cyno the news.
