((The iD Collar was a concept I implemented, admittedly as an excuse to draw characters with collars, because I think they're cool haha. But there would be subtle hints you could notice if you looked closely! But I think I was too inconsistent with drawing them unfortunately...^^;))

Hey been a while... And here’s a thing

Hey, been a long while since I’ve been back on tumblr. I apologize for my long absence. I want to be able to post more here, but I’ve just been so busy and honestly have had nothing really to show for it...

Some things have happened and I eventually lost track of time and now it’s December...

I’ll just cut to the chase. Summer Can DO It! has been on a looooooooong hiatus. And that was due to both life and creative dilemmas on my end... however after so long debating on it, I have decided that SCDI will no longer function as an interactive ask blog. Instead it will function as a full on webcomic series! While this gets rid of canon interactions and influences in the story from you guys, which I apologize... It will allow me to try to write a more cohesive story/plot! More so, it’ll also allow me to plan ahead, and be able to make a bigger buffer for updates! Which in turn will allow me to also make post updates at a more consistent schedule! This will hopefully be able to remove these Looooooooooooooong indefinite hiatuses and allow you to enjoy more content!

Unfortunately the year is almost done, and I dont have enough time to pull something out of my butt within this month’s time, so Summer Can DO It!’s return will unfortunately be delayed until 2020.

That said I leave you with a question as well,

Since Summer Can DO It! will now be completely a webcomic series, would you guys like to see me redo the prologue sequence (essentially reboot the series)? And if so, are you okay with me using your OCs in the intro sequence (not necessarily used the same way) or would you rather I create some new characters for the prologue? Please let me know your thoughts

((Summer actually has a family, though they will/do not necessarily play a big role in the series. Among her relatives is her younger sister named Gwen! Though she likes to dress in black, she's actually a very cheery girl! Unlike Summer, Gwen actually has a Doglike chest mark!))

SCDI Trivia #4: Liz & Cat!

((The concept of Liz and Cat were based on a trend I was seeing at the time in games of female cat and crocodile characters being friends. But admittedly they were initially very based off Bratty & Catty from Undertale. Very energetic and sometimes talking over each other.

It was actually really difficult to write Liz & Cat's dialogue because they would often talk over each other at the same time and sometimes break their words off to add on to what the other was saying, basically... THEY WERE ALWAYS TALKING LOL and it was hard to convey all that through word bubble dialogue in the comic haha

Liz & Cat were also originally planned to be one off incidental characters. After Summer bumps into them, they would have a brief exchange before parting their separate ways from Summer and then fade off into occasional background characters. The initial idea for their first interaction wasn't nearly as wholesome haha though ^^;

The outcome of their interaction was originally dependent on what outfit Summer would be wearing from the poll. Had the poll decided for Summer to wear the "Cute" outfit, the scene would play out as it did, Liz finding Summer's outfit to be Mega Cute and immediately bond over how they're matching and stuff. As it would've been slightly identical to their initial designs:

Any other choice would've actually resulted in Cat telling Summer off to watch where she was going while Liz holds her face in pain as they depart from the scene. They wouldn't have even helped her up haha xD

But as you may have noticed, the "Casual" look is what won the poll, not the "Cute" outfit... so what gives? Well, to be honest, I didn't want to write Liz & Cat's first impressions as bullies that thought they were better than everyone haha, so I tweaked the script in favor of the positive outcome, and also modified Liz & Cat's outfits to better match Summer's haha))

SCDI Trivia #13: Shriek...

((You may know Shriek as the chill barista at the cafe that Summer, Liz&Cat went to in the series, and that is correct! However, Shriek is also a species of shapeshifting shadow creatures that are the physical manifestations of an ancient beast's nightmares. The link has been greatly severed from this beast through both distance and eons of passing time, so these beings tend to be less hostile now a days. They also don't really have the need for clothing, however Shriek's job required her to wear uniform.

These shadow beings' forms will become less stable dependent on their mental/emotional state. And if angered, their form violently spikes and they let out a blood curdling screech that freezes all who hear it in terror! It is also said that if you were to look directly into the mouth of these creatures as they are screaming it would be the stuff of nightmares... It's a good thing Shriek is pretty chill though ^^

They also dont do well with water. If these creatures come into contact with a large body of water, their form becomes like a black mist while they are in the water, and it becomes very difficult to reform. When in rain their form fizzles.))

SCDI Trivia #14: Who's that Cameo!

((THIS Freaking scene! I was so dead set on planting this little easter egg/cameo, that I neglected to draw any other passengers leaving and/or boarding the train. So now it just looks like two people awkwardly sitting alone at a train station LOL))

((For any of you really long time followers that may still be there, The lady seen in this shot is actually an anthropomorphized version of Filma Cuts from the now debunked @askfilmacuts Pony ask blog. I recall she was very popular in the chat server I was in at the time haha. I have since reworked her design and renamed her Filimia, rather than Film. She still works with film stuff though. Director and Editor haha))

Its May, but...

Here's the thing about being back in May... i may actually be a bit slow and delayed in providing content because I am unwell...

By that I mean I have a potential ear drum rupture and/or infection, and the pain is sometimes reeeeeally intense... so sorry no big comeback from me for now... >_<

I will hopefully be fully recovered before month's end. Until then I will be taking it easy, and work on content when I am able. Sorry but this also applies to Summer Can DO It! as well. The series may unfortunately be delayed another month.. but I'll try to have more pages and frequent uploads for when it does return, and it WILL return. Just need to heal first haha.. sorry guys. Love you!
