Favorite New Anime Summer 2022: Parallel World Pharmacy
I absolutely love cozy, slice of life anime, so it's no surprise that the isekai Parallel World Pharmacy would fast become a new favorite.
A young, dedicated man researching a cure for cancer dies one day due to overwork. He wakes up in the body of a 10 year old boy named Pharma in a parallel world similar to 18th century france. He learns that Pharma was the son of one of the world's leading doctors, and that he can control "Divine Arts" which help him diagnose and treat patients. Through perseverance, friendship, luck, and a little bit of magic, Pharma opens a pharmacy in this world in hopes of bringing new medical knowledge and creating a place where commoners and nobles alike receive equal treatment.
The design is gorgeous, with many of the costumes and sets heavily influenced by 18th and 19th century Europe. Each episode covers a new challenge for Pharma as he learns to navigate this new world. What sets this apart from other isekai is that we get to see Pharma adjust to his new world and bring his talents to it, while also getting what is essentially a medical drama.
If you enjoyed Ascendance of a Bookworm or Dr. Ramune Mysterious Disease Specialist, lighthearted and sincere anime or medical shows, I definitely recommend Parallel World Pharmacy!
The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting (Summer 2022 Simulcast)
Can I just say I am so excited for the upcoming summer simulcasts of anime this year. They look so interesting, the animation for each is beautiful, and I get to see continuations of some of my favorites. D. Gray-man is coming back which I am so happy about, Orange aired its first episode today (which was amazing and I highly recommend it because it is one of my favorite manga ever), and there is literally going to be a history time travel anime and an ice skating anime. How can I calmly express the fact that animated ice skating scenes are the most beautiful things I have ever seen?! Death Parade opened my eyes, and now I am in awe every time. There is so many options to choose from this summer and I’m looking forward to all of them.
Not to mention the fact that I will probably be internally and externally screaming about most of them on the internet but you know. It’s what I live for what can I say.
