Day Three Prompt: If you wrote a song about your love life, waht would the title be? Write the first verse. 9/12/15

Oh yes. My love life. The. The non existent one. Well, seeing as mostly it consists of waiting, I suppose that’s what the song would be about. Recently, inspired by a friend, I’ve been praying that, when I see the man God has for me, my heart will drop, I’ll get butterflies in my stomach, and I’ll hear God say “this is the one.” I guess I’d call the song “Drop.” It’d have to be a bouncy folk tune. Lots of banjo:

Well, my grandma said it can happen, in a grocery store. You’re walking around in your sweatpants and you drop your tortillas on the floor. Then suddenly, he’s there, tortillas in hand and you’re heart drops. 

(I decided floor was better than ground, rhyme seemed like a better way to go in this situation.)

Day Two Prompt: Name the top ten things on your bucket list. 9/11/15

10.) Actually start to enjoy jogging. 9.) Remember that one thing I said I wanted to put on my bucket list, as I have forgotten what it was, and this is my first time writing a Bucket List. 8.) Write a Bucket List. 7.) See Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. 6.) Finish that painting I started in High School. I’ve been to art school, made other paintings. I should just finish it already. 5.) Answer the question that has plagues me since Childhood: Who is the villain who wears black armor and has red bows on his elbows, and what movie did I see him in? 4.) Go to Europe! Paris, Italy, Ireland, etc. 3.) Make a full length movie (Preferably more than one. Hopefully many)  2.) Fall in love, get married, have children. 1.) A great ellipsis...It’s a heavy decision, naming the thing you’d like most to do in this life.

(Sometimes, I spell words wrong. I’m sorry.)

Day One Prompt: While at the beach you decide to write a message in a bottle. What would it say? Who would you like to find it?  9/7/15   (Whoops, I misread the beach part but WHATEVER, OH WELL. Additionally, I chose October for the fun of it. I know the ninth month is September.)

October 7th, 1886

“My Dear Richard,

Oh my love. Would that I had said all I wished to say to you before now. Now, when it is far, far too late. Look how my writing trembles. I can scarce hold my pen for fear and sorrow.

The ship is taken. First  by Pirates, and now by the sea herself. I am lost, Richard. I hid in the smallest corner of the cargo hold I could find, deep in the shadows, as the pirates boarded my father’s merchant vessel. They did not find me, but that did not save me in the end. The damage sustained in the boarding and subsequent battle riddled the ship with holes. Survivors were taken hostage, the dead left to sink with the ship, my father, and now myself among them.

The Pirate vessel was but a dot on the horizon when I emerged and discovered my fate.

Oh Richard. I should have said yes. I should have run away. Eloped. I should have told you how I loved you.

I pray you find this note. I pray you forgive me. Please remember our love, but find happiness for yourself.

It’s important to remember that the things children hear tend to stick with them. What the people they look up to criticize becomes the things they criticize. My mom always had low self esteem when it came to her weight, as did my grandmother. When we’re all together, it’s a chorus of the same phrases from the mouths of three generations about how we aren’t good enough in the bodies God gave us. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked in the mirror and been disappointed. When I’m grown enough to help another little life grow, I pray the only words that come from my lips will be sunshine and self worth. My grandma, my mom, and I are not defective or irreparably damaged by the influences that gave us these negative opinions, but if I can change the course of my addition to the next generation, I’ll keep in mind that it’s important to remember that the things children hear tend to stick with them.

My Skin at 4:00 am

My skin is never paler then it is at 4:00 am when the blood moves slowly to my recesses.

My fingers don’t need much circulation, just enough to keep them breathing. They look slender and pale and the way I always wish they would.

My face is snow on glass, and doesn’t need to worry about flushing or blushing for at least another three hours.

It doesn’t have to impress anyone. Yet.

How pale I am At 4:00 am In my bathroom mirror I’m almost never up this early, and I can’t tell if I like it.

Speak now or...

We, the naturally hopeful, are gathered here today to join the march of time and the crescent moon in holy matrimony.

What God joins let no man tear asunder, so stop me please if you begin to wonder whether either of these two is right for the other.

Because time marches on and never stops moving while the crescent moon is a pause

a secret about to be whispered from suitcases in airports rolling up and down terminals and singing her cool night music.

Waves cresting sand Light cresting waves Crests of cresecents mirroring

but man loves a mystery so we are gathered today to join the ever moving march of time with the crescent moon

and if anyone, for any reason, thinks these two should not be wed speak now or forever hold your peace. Peace. Shhhh.

Tigers Proudly

A green shuttered house I did not know existed resides inside a cave Hardwood floors bright with shadowy reflections of the porcelain figurines that do not want to tip and fall and shatter though some do inevitably Many rooms have doors and many doors have locks and many of those locks are used with a “Do not Disturb” sign swinging gently from the knob. But some doors are open of course quiet laughter and soft music slipping sweetly past the buffeting, roiling symphony of people being people the sweetly slipping sounds flamenco with each other the raucous, silent singing somehow all the same volume the way the voice in your head can scream or whisper but never gets any louder Tigers proudly man the stations usually taken up by guards, their stripes in varying shades of beige or black depending on the same volumed voice reverberating from the doors, open and shut, in the halls of the green shuttered house. And some tigers lays their mighty heads on their great forepaws with grief under the softly swinging “Do Not Disturbs"
