After the Rail Fence block release this morning, I decided to get caught up on my Summer Garden blocks and now I've finished them all!

I'm really happy with how they've all turned out, but unfortunately, I can't see how they look with the black and white card blocks (those are with the guild right now as samples). I'm sure those will add an interesting contrast to the bright colours and will give me plenty of opportunities to explore a variety of different block compositions!

I can't wait to see how this quilt ends up coming together!

Hello Friends and Happy Tuesday!

My apologies for the silence over the last week, it’s been a struggle.  I’ve had a lot of things take a few steps backwards and not many things going forwards.  Those things are all working themselves out now though, so I’m doing a lot better!

This week on the Fibre Arts blog, I’ve released the next instalment of the Summer Garden BoM!  This month features the Rail Fence block, a personal favourite of mine that I always enjoy making!  There are two possible construction methods, one for strip piecing and one for scrap piecing, as well as an update on my Garden of Cards version of this pattern!

A little late on my own BoM, but today I finished my Dove at the Window blocks!

These were supposed to be the January block, but after getting sick early in the month, I wasn't feeling up to making them. I cut all the pieces, but saved assembling them for this weekend when I could sew with my Mom.

We had a very productive day and both finished a few blocks!

Can't wait to see what we get up to tomorrow!

Finally finished piecing all of my sample blocks for the first Summer Garden quilt!

I should have the full top pieced within the next few days and I'll be ready to share, though the BoM has technically started already, so I am a little late. At least it will be ready before the first set of block instructions is released in October!

So excited to see other's interpreting my pattern as this BoM progresses!

Hello Friends and Happy Tuesday!

Now that we’re a week into the month of March, it’s time to release the next instalment of the Summer Garden BoM!

This month’s block is called Jack’s Delight!  It features half square triangles and bias sewn seams, both of which are challenges we’ve already overcome in past blocks!  There’s lots of different ways to use colour placement to alter the effect of this block, so I can’t wait to see what all of you choose to do with it!

After a few days in Mom's dining room, I've completed this month's Summer Garden BoM block, Wild Goose Chase!

I had a lot of fun working on these, though trimming the dozens of flying geese did get a little tedious, and Mom and I can't wait to do it all again next month when December's block is released!

Hello Friends and Happy Tuesday!

Today, I’m excited to be sharing instructions for the first block in the Summer Garden Bom! 

To start piecing this quilt, we’ll be making the Bear Paw block!  This is a simple, beginner friendly block.  It uses squares, rectangles, and several two-at-a-time half square triangle units.

This was my first time making a Bear Paw block and I had a lot of fun working with both sets of colours!  I can’t wait to see what all of you make!

Hello Friends and Happy Tuesday!

This week on the Fibre Arts blog, I’m continuing my Summer Garden BoM prep with fabric selection!  I’ve found several pieces in my stash, borrowed some from my Mom, and have a shopping list prepared for picking up the rest!

With almost everything gathered, I’m getting more and more excited for block assembly to start. October can’t come soon enough!
