Here are my character sheets for the potential characters I might use in my 2 minute film. I did character sheets for my florist character, my paranormal hunter character and the girl in my dissociation story concept.
Here is a link to my PDF form of my summer homework and my findings. There are more in-depth descriptions for some designs further in my blog.
3 Scenarios and Short Story
Part 3: Events/Scenarios
Scenario 1:
The character spots a pest in their favourite place and tries their best to get rid of it.
Scenario 2:
The character loses their travelling pass when rushing to their closest public transportation spot, only to find out it was in their pocket.
Scenario 3:
The character walked around a forest and stepped on sinking mud, resulting in losing their shoes.
Part 4: Short Story
Greta is hiking around a forest which is rumoured to have a supernatural entity roaming around the premises during the late midnight. She is very excited to catch this entity on camera but she is walking very slowly due to the equipment she is carrying. Greta finally saw a good place to set up her tent but as she was hiking, she felt like the ground was dragging her down and it turns out that it was mud. She tried her best to pull her feet out but her backpack is making her movements sluggish. She removed her backpack but it was too late, she had already sunk pretty deep. Greta got really frustrated and grabbed hold of the ground and pulled her feet as hard as she could. She managed to get out of the predicament but she lost her shoes and even her socks. Greta was furious but she calmed down and told herself that the ghost sighting will be worth it. So, she reached the spot and placed her tent to get ready for the paranormal activities to happen but in the end, the rumour was proven to be false.
Here are my 3 background sketches and the photos based on my drawings. Although the 2 other backgrounds are in a different style, I somehow like how it turned out as I was trying to draw backgrounds in a new way.
Here is my third character and its inspiration. His name is Pierre, based on the artist’s name of the painting called “Kunstmatigheid” by Pierre Alechinsky. The original source is much more abstract but I saw a face, some sunflowers and it’s wear some frills, so I turned that painting into a shy florist that really like flowers. I looked into some florist’s clothes to make it modern.
Here is my second character who is based on a painting from the 1645/1675 called “Girl with an Oil Lamp at a Window” by Gerrit Dou. Her name is Greta Dou, based on the artist’s name. The clothes the woman is wearing in the original source looks modern as I saw some women still wear similar clothes to this day and the odd lit figure behind her made me think that this person would be interested in the paranormal in the modern world.
Here is my inspiration for my first character who is based on a Tang dynasty sculpture called “Seated Court Lady.” Her name is Li Hua. I looked into elder Chinese women and Han Qiaoni’s look stuck with me that I made my character wear the clothes she is wearing instead of her generic festival clothes but in the end, I decided to go for her first outfit.
