One of the benefits of visiting Buffalo in the summer is raiding my father’s garden of amazingly fresh produce. The kids go back and pick whatever they like from the garden. We pulled out red beets, cucumbers and cucamelons. I can’t find the picture of the cucamelons but we roasted the beets, grilled fresh plums and peaches and made a summer salad with them and goat cheese. We also@made a tomato cucamelon salad and sliced pork loin thin for spicy Korean pork BBQ on the grill. If it looks delicious it’s because it was. Living in NYC there are many farmers markets, green markets and neighborhood markets but nothing beats garden fresh produce and cooking on a grill in the summer.
