Summer
Fresh from the rite of spring
Endowed with the beauty of nature
Earth walks into the morning
Into the garden of summer
Warmth radiates from the air
Sweet is the scent of the flowers
Bottlebrush, wattle and banksia
Castles of clouds above towers
Summer storms. Wind driving rain
Heavy heat mixed with the breeze
Showers will fall once again
Billows will tussle the trees
Lazy days oppressed with humidity
Cicadas making noise though the grass
They seem the only things happy
Soon the sun's torment will pass
Alas in the evenings cool harbour
The humid and heat still remain
But still earth treasures the savour
Of summer, of heat and of rain
