Too much pink is a theme for my garden this summer. I chose pink flowers (peonies here) that turned out to be much more vigorous over time than I expected, and I did not have the heart to take them out or even cut back. Here are pictures of where I have used rich purple clematis in different shades to cut the sugary look produced by too much pink.

Weeds in my garden / Miriam Macgregor
Continuing on the garden theme through May, this item focuses on the weeds growing in the authors lawn. She writes a bit of history of each one, as well as historical uses (and if her Guinea pigs liked it, which might be the most important part of all!)
The book includes beautifully hand-colored, highly detailed wood engravings of each plant. They are also presented as individual prints in a separate folder.
Binding: Bound in handmade paper boards with black leather spine and gilt spine title. Handmade end papers. Issued in slip case with printed paper label pasted on spine. Library has copy no. IX [9]. --Catalog "175 copies printed at Whittington Court in 6-point Garamond on Zerkall mould-made paper. 140 are quarter-bound, and 35 full-bound in leather, with a set of proofs: by Smith Settle May 1986. Copy number IX" --Colophon.
