Common Hygiene Myths (Part 1)

Shaving makes the hair grow faster.

Shaving doesn’t make the hair grow faster/thicker. However, while your hair is growing in after shaving, it can look thicker compared to its previously shaven state.

The five-seconds rule.

I don’t know what to say about this one; it’s so disgusting. Never eat food that had previously been on the ground (unless it’s been thoroughly cleaned with vegetable soap or cooked to temperature where all the bacteria is killed- and even those two exceptions are only applicable to certain types of food.)

You shouldn’t moisturize oily skin/if your skin or hair is oily, that means you aren’t washing it enough.

Oily skin is often caused by a destroyed acid mantle. Thus, oily skin can often be a byproduct of cleansing too much/using a cleanser that strips the oils of your skin or by not using a moisturizer. When your skin lacks moisture, it tends to overproduce oil to combat the oil being stripped away. The same goes with hair.

All bacteria is bad.

The truth is, there’s a lot of good bacteria. Good bacteria helps our bodies survive and thrive. Now, although this is true, it’s still important to clean and disinfect your living space and also maintain proper hygiene as there is still a lot bacteria that can cause disease.

The vagina needs to be cleaned.

The vagina never needs to be cleaned manually. Putting soap inside your vagina or douching can throw off the ph-level of your vagina and cause painful infections that, if left untreated, could cause organ failure and even kill you. Most research shows that it’s okay to use a gentle soap with water on the external vulva but it’s important to remember that the vagina is self-cleaning and never needs to be manually cleaned.

    It’s me lonely Kayla writing to you today! This past week has been complete shit but that’s okay. Emylie asked me out on a date with her. She was on her break and decided to invite me out before the new pair of kids came. She runs a daycare and it pays well so she likes to take me out on a treat once in a while. We aren’t dating and we probably never will but eh, she loves me I love her that’s all that matters...right?
