7 vital tips for spring car maintenance under European conditions!
European winters are certainly the harshest on the planet. Thick snow patches envelope cities and towns for months.
But when the snow melts away, and the spring is welcomed, relying on the previous (winter) season car maintenance is definitely, not a wise decision.
So what is the drill for making the car ready so that you can ride down carefully in the beauty of the spring season? Check out these 7 vital tips.
1. Exchange winter tyres with summer tyres.
Spring car maintenance calls for the first vital change that should be done without any second thought – swapping winter tyres with summer tyres!
The road is likely to get drier during the onset of spring. So winter tyres, that are ideally designed to withstand the harsh weather conditions, will not suit the dry road surface. This will result in an early wear and tear.
For cars with all-season tyres, one must keep a check on the tyre pressure – any uneven fault/wear should be followed with a proper tyre-aligning mechanism. Safe tyres mean safe driving. Winter tyres should be washed thoroughly post winter and proper repair mechanism should be adopted to keep them ready for the next winter.
2. Cleaning.
Needless to say but cleaning tops the list of measures used in spring car maintenance.
Clean every nook and cranny – that means washing and waxing, clearing out clutters and valves, and use a handheld pump/dry cloth to clear out all the gathered wastes
3. Battery check-up.
Imagine what happens if your car-battery goes unchecked after a severe European weather? Your battery will deteriorate and burn-out before time. It is important for every car battery to function uninterruptedly.
For cars more than 5 years old, a battery check is very important and unavoidable. Get your battery tested by a certified mechanic before your car hits the road in spring.
4. Brakes Inspection.
Brakes should be inspected without any second thought post winter and pre spring. Brakes are likely to get rough and shaky and if not checked, it, surely invites disaster. Change your brake pads if they do not operate well
5. Check and test wiper blades and lighting.
Wiper blades function continuously during the snow since they intend to keep the windshields clean for the drivers to have a clear look.
Note: Measure the wiper blades before purchasing. Do not buy wiper blades of just any size!
Check the internal and external lightening. Make sure that the headlights and sidelights are working properly and effectively. Any kind of ignorance is likely to spill trouble. If they are not working properly, get them replaced with a good quality of headlights or get them thoroughly repaired!
6. Timely replacing the oil.
Oil is the most essential lifeline for an engine to function. A smooth running engine is largely attributed to the good quality of oil. The quality, however, deteriorates with time which eventually generates the need for periodic refilling of good quality oil. Remember! Cheap quality oil will destroy the functioning and add up to the cost immensely. No one would want that, wouldn’t they?
7. Insurance policy revision.
You can get your insurance policy revised during any time of the year however, the spring time is considered to be an ideal time to get it revised. Keep getting the ideas pertaining to the coverage of the policy.
When the winter departs and spring arrives, it is always good to have a checklist ready that consists all these aforementioned measures. Because after all, a car is like a memory book! The better you maintain, the more it will stay!!
