Lana's summoning gate confuses me...i mainly summon that stupid weed thing and it is probably the most useless summon. The aragok summon is the most useful and i can hardly summon it....wish there was a good stage to get practice

Before Nintendo had patched this hilarious glitch, I managed to pull it off with Dark Link and took a video despite it's bad quality.

I'm really pumped for Hyrule Warriors, and while I have never played any of the Dynasty Warrior games, I have played Sengoku Basara! So I must say that playable Ganondorf and other antagonists was at least to be expected and not surprising in the least! And I understand why we probably won't be seeing many characters from Wind Waker -- I think the art style might not fit the game too well -- though I agree with others that a Medli and Makar would have been great. BUT! Here's my speculation: while I don't have MUCH experience with the Dynasty Warriors / Sengoku Basara series, I know that secret characters are certainly a thing, and I still have hope that Wind Waker will have some more presence in some way, shape, or form (as in with the Adenture Mode possibly)! ALSO! In the Direct video, we see Lana using a "Summoning Gate" with which she uses to summon a giant cucco -- but that's all we see! I PROPOSE THAT with that weapon, you'll be able to summon other helpful guests from other games, INCLUDING MEDLI AND/OR MAKAR. I don't see it as such a far-off claim, since Lana's Spear already summons dekus!
