One Kind Stranger: Coffee share
sumpcoffee
Today's post stems from right here in Saint Louis, Missouri where a handful of strangers stepped up to help a young small & awesome business. Sump Coffee, the place that makes & roasts the best coffee in town had a major problem with their old building; their lateral sewer line…well went down the drain leading to a partial foundation collapse.
Scott the founder & owner of Sump writes in the link below of patrons coming out of the woodwork to offer help in many ways. Some came with shovel in hand & boots on foot to help dig. Some sent support via email. Others bought freshly roasted beans to ease a bit of the financial bite. Some offered spaces free of rent until a reopening.
How great it is to reach out to offer even words of encouragement to someone in need. How fantastic is it to take part of a day out to do some physical labor with others for a cause. Sure this is not about Habitat for Humanity or Greenpeace but we all have our own places in life. Let’s embrace what we CAN do instead of worrying what we can’t.
On a personal note: Never was I so enthusiastic about coffee until I had them brew it. I am no coffee snob & neither are they. You walk in that shop & you feel welcome by those working there. They are wonderfully open & talkative.
They are reopening this Thursday. I hope to see you there.

Specialty coffee doesn’t happen on its own, it happens as a result of a passionate collaborative community.
