Sad thing to realize but Jeok is alive because no one has killed her. She has no reason to stay alive, her only purpose is to help other beings without any regards to her own life or even her will.
Despite being close with her newest friends none of them truly knows her - or even care really. Basically their knowledge is "smiling human girl who hangs around". Unknowingly, Jeok has set a barrier around herself and she'll probably never really do anything about it because no one is pushing against that barrier. No one is searching a way to get closer to her or to help her.
