Sun Shan Meets his Father/Zhuge Liang/Zhao Yun/Zhou Yu. just do any one of these pleeeeeeaaaaaasssssseeee!!!!!!!! ( I need more Sun Shan in my life)
OOOOH~ I’mma do Daddy Bei here because I crave family drama...for some reason.
Actually I probably know why but eh. Let’s do this!
He was going to finally meet him. The emperor of Shu. The man his kingdom has been fighting for decades. His enemy. No. His rival. This is the person he was designed to hate, to despise. Right in front of him was the emperor of Shu. Right in front of him was Liu Bei.
Sun Shan remained unmoved as the Shu emperor entered his court, bowing as was the courtesy. This man was his biological father, but as far as he was concerned he was a stranger. Only here to discuss a potential alliance with Wu. Like I’d accept it.
And unlike the Shu emperor, who was quiet in the overall discussion of the future of their two kingdoms, Sun Shan left little to the imagination his feelings about not only the alliance but his father as well. How he tried to remain objective but it was so so difficult to not get infuriated at the sight of the man.
An alliance however was formed, albeit temporarily. The threat of Wei was a far bigger priority than petty rivalries, and thus the emperor of Wu agreed to a temporary ceasefire between the nations. But his feelings about his father did not change one bit. Not after having dined with the man. Not after seeing the sadness in his eyes.
But on the last day he had learnt all. Learnt the sorrow his father felt of truly losing someone he cared for, that someone being Sun Shan himself. Learnt how he campaigned to try and get him back. Learnt of the sickness that was gripping the man, how it would claim his life sooner or later. But he showed no emotion as the man left with his men and his followers and his subjects.
Perhaps though, Sun Shan thought in the back of his mind, it wouldn’t kill him to call him father every now and then. Maybe the man deserved at least that much. After all, no matter what, Sun Shan was, and still is, the king of sadness after all.
