砂出しシーズンがやってきました。 Sunadashi (Discharge of sand from volume weirs) season is here.
瀬戸市は昨日から雨が続き、梅雨らしい天気となっています。 梅雨、台風などの大雨による静水池への流入土砂が、水位観測に影響することを防ぐため、砂出しを実施しています。 It has been raining continuously in Seto City since yesterday, and the weather is typical of the rainy season. To prevent sediment carried into the stilling basins by heavy rains—such as those associated with the rainy season and typhoons—from affecting water level measurements, we carried out Sunadashi (Discharge of sand from volume weirs).
5月26日は白坂量水堰の砂出しを実施しました。 雨はあまり降っていないので、水位は低く、砂出しには厳しい条件となりました。 まず最初に排砂口を開けて、堰内の水を抜きます。 On May 26, we carried out Sunadashi at the Shirasaka Water Measurement Weir. Since there hadn’t been much rain, the water level was low, making for challenging conditions for the Sunadashi. First, we opened the sand discharge outlet to drain the water from inside the weir.
水を抜いたら、早速砂出しです。 昨年度から堆積土砂量の計測はUAV-LiDARで実施しているため、測量時間が短く、作業時間が長くなりました。 水量も少ないため、一列に並んで少しずつ砂を出していきます。 Once the water was drained, we immediately began Sunadashi. Since last year, we’ve been using UAV-LiDAR to measure the volume of sediment, which has shortened the surveying time but increased the time required for the actual work. Because the water level is low, we line up in a single file and remove the sand little by little.
厳しい砂出しとなりましたが、約45㎥排出することができ、ひとまず急な大雨には対応できそうです。 Although it was a difficult Sunadashi operation, we were able to remove approximately 45 cubic meters, so it looks like we’ll be able to handle sudden heavy rain for the time being.
続いて、6月18日には東山量水堰の砂出しを実施しました。 満砂ではありませんが、多くの土砂が堆積しています。 Next, on June 18, we carried out Sunadashi at the Higashiyama Water Measurement Weir. Although it is not yet at full capacity, a significant amount of sediment has accumulated.
こちらも排砂口を開けて、水を排出します。 Open the sand discharge port here as well to drain the water.
この日も水量は少なく、一列に並んで少しずつ砂を排出しました。 The water level was low again that day, so we lined up in a single file and gradually removed the sand.
万全とは言えませんが、約75㎥の土砂を排出することができました。 Although it wasn't a perfect job, we were able to remove approximately 75 cubic meters of soil and debris.
来週6月30日には北谷量水堰の砂出しが計画されています。 まだまだ砂出しシーズンは続きます。 Sunadashi at the Kitadani (North-Valley) Water Measurement Weir is scheduled for next week, on June 30. Sunadashi season is still in full swing.
