Sunday Storytime

In March 2020, I was with a friend for a wedding ceremony of our common friend's brother. Since the celebrations and the pre-wedding functions were held over 2-3 days at a resort, it was a LOT OF FUN (I love this about our Indian culture)! Excitingly, one of the days coincided with the festival of Holi, just a day before the wedding. We danced in the rain shower area (a huge lawn with water showers pouring from above us), drowned in bursts of flower petals and enjoyed applying powdered colours on each others' faces while dancing to peppy songs.

I usually don't indulge in too many colours because my skin becomes itchy afterwards but that day I couldn't stop myself. So when me and my friend returned to our room at the resort, I noticed redness and rashes on my face. I quickly washed my face and splashed cold water. Then I decided that I should apply ice before it gets worse. So, I dialled the room service and asked for ice cubes. My friend ordered a bowl of curd to cleanse her scalp (which was a bright yellow by the end due to the accumulated powdered colours).

The funny part is that I received a bucket full of ice cubes (similar to what we get with champagne lmao). Theose were some actual big ass ice cubes. Me and my friend laughed over how the staff must've thought that we needed ice for drinks!!!!! I used about 3-4 ice cubes on my face. The next morning, after the wedding, the bride and the groom spent their 1st night in our room (since it was big) and we shifted to another. The next morning after seeing the empty bucket, even the groom suspected that we went on a drinking spree the previous night. Then he giggled after knowing the whole incident. It was a fun wedding and an enjoyable few days over there!
