It's kind of wild how closely Sundry Sidney's arc in Starstruck Odyssey (2022) ended up predicting Greta Gerwig's Barbie (2023), even accounting for the base similarity that Sidney and Barbie are both female artificial creations manufactured by corporations to serve the needs of humanity but on a quest to find their own purpose in life. Like, you've got:

Lack of specialization as a symbol of their lack of identity.

Mistaken assumption about the identity of their creator on whom they've hinged all their hopes of finding purpose.

Low point when meeting fails to live up to expectations.

Real creator is just a normal woman who channels her own existential angst into the design of this symbolic person.

Growth and realization--the reason both Sid and Barbie help people to believe in themselves is because they have the potential to do *anything*.

full disclosure it's been a hot minute since i rewatched ASO so these are. very much vibes

sundry sidney: unf i'm not really certain that androids in starstruck can eat. i guess they can take drugs?? i'll caveat n say that she could be bringing things she would want to eat if she could eat things. however what's more interesting is her ideas on mortality n existence especially as the only n thus last model of her kind. literally the holder of souls for her entire line of droids. there is literally only one sundry sidney. and being that this is a dnd pc played by emily axford she is saying smth brutal and heartbreaking and insightful about it

margaret encino: margaret... lowkey she's kinda funny to think about in this regard bc dnd settings esp can feel so high lethality but her build is so combat averse that i think she's rarely been put in a position where she's like. yeah okay i'm gonna die. she's standing behind barry syx. however she's probably got Thoughts... i just don't know them. food wise all i can remember is her boston creme pie yogurt and i know she's not bringing that to the table. but like this is d20 so it's probably gonna be smth like. the fucking chili slop from baustin? can u tell how based off vibes i'm going rn
