what else could anyone in such a dreadful place try... most of them were already dead to begin with. but what a better place for someone like him to live. he thought it would be the one thing he might as well do: attempt helping those who crossed his path. whether they had been mislead or simply had a terrible taste on where to visit, volga would still show kindness --- when deserved.

but he was tired. truth was, it was overwhelming. seeing so many horrible things happen and not being able to stop it, and it always felt like a loop. when things got better it just seemed like everything had been ‘reset’. how to explain that to this stranger; volga feels trapped. doomed to a fate he did not ask for, one he can’t do anything about or so it seems.

“ trying is not enough. there must be something else i can do... ”

he means not to play the hero, for that is a task perhaps too big for him in his current state. there’s still such a lack of purpose on every attempt to do good.
