Today i hiked the Garvey Springs trail up to Sunfish pond. I knew ahead of time that the trail was really steep but i still wasnt prepared for just how steep it was! The trail is about as long as the Mount Tammany loop, and has only 200 feet less of an elevation gain. So i should have known better i guess orz
A bit chilly today but after a bit of the climb i warmed right up! otherwise it was a great day to be on the trail and there were only a few other people, and two dogs 🐶
The worst thing was that i almost lost bridget! i dont know how it happened but my bag opened up at some point and she toppled out. I didnt hear anything, and it was sheer luck that i turned around before getting too far away from her. I was following blazes for my trail and another, and the blaze ahead only had one for the other trail. I thought i missed where they separated and turned around to check, and that was the only reason i saw her on the ground 😭 otherwise i might not have noticed until i reached my car. It was only a bit more than a half mile up, but that was a steep half mile and since i wouldnt know when she fell i dont know that i would have been able to spare that much time to look. Ive been meaning to get some twine to tie her to my bag anyway for when i want to do some more "risky" shots where she might fall out of easy reach, so this definitely pushed that up to a priority move before i do any other hikes!
