So everyone knows Chan played a lot of Pokemon Go, it was his hyperfixation way back when it launched in 2016 and he fell right back into it during the Maniac Tour of ‘22. The members gave it a good crack, but their interest waned. But Sunhee is a completionist to her core. She hates leaving something unfinished and while she certainly couldn’t catch ‘em all, she could definitely catch nine Eevees and evolve them. And when she realised she had to start naming them… well there’s nine members and nine variations of Eevee….

(okay, so these are based on my opinions and how sunhee perceives the members- if you don't agree that's fine. I was just watching some of the 2022 chan's room back and got smacked with his pokemon go obsession lol. funfact- my pokemon card binder is also my pc binder- Jisung is next to snom.)
[ ᴄʜᴀɴ, ꜰʟᴀʀᴇᴏɴ ]
So she actually names Flareon first. After Chan names his Emolga- Sunhee’s favorite pokemon that he goes out of his way to catch- Sunny. It’s only fair that she names the Eevee she’s been doting on after him. And when it evolves into Flareon? Well it couldn’t be more fitting.
Sunhee wasn’t really a pokemon kid. She’d played emerald before, but pokemon was her brother’s thing, she’d always been an animal crossing girl. But Flareon had always been her favorite.
It suits him too. Flareon was pretty on the outside but powerful in a way many wouldn’t expect. Chan’s passion burned deep inside him and escaped in bright, condensed bursts, much like flareon’s move-set. Sunhee doesn't tell him any of this of course, purses her lips and thinks it makes sense that the pokemon she named after him ended up evolving into her favorite version. Not unlike how Chan himself had grown into Sunhee’s favorite person when she wasn’t looking.
[ ᴍɪɴʜᴏ, ɢʟᴀᴄᴇᴏɴ ]
Minho was glaceon. She waited until after the pokemon evolved to name it but she just knew the second it did, that this was Minho.
He’s graceful and elegant, lethe and carefully constructed just like the pokemon was. She also likes to think he’s fragile like Glanceon's ice, snickering as she remembers how his joints crack loudly- like ice bergs splintering apart.
Glaceons are cold in appearance but are calm and gentle in nature. Sunhee thinks about Minho, how he cooks dinner for her when he knows she’s having a rough time, how people assume he is mean because of his humour but how warm his heart is.
He’s also very pretty, Sunhee- even after all these years is not immune to the butterflies in her stomach that sometimes choose to erupt when he does something particularly ‘boyfriend’. There’s an innate kind of beauty to glaceon, one that Sunhee sees reflected in her friend.
[ ꜱᴜɴʜᴇᴇ, ᴇꜱᴘᴇᴏɴ ]
She didn’t intend to make herself Espeon- she was actually going to keep herself as eevee but it was the second to last evolution and it ended up as a female. Which was like, a 1 in eighth chance or something.
Besides, she liked it. At this point, Chan caught onto her plans- because of twitter of all things. Stay had figured out his pokemon username and when they clocked onto the same username (wherethesundontshine) being at all the same gyms Chan was, it was pretty obvious. When she actually explained on live about her ‘fuck-ass team of eevees’ as Felix liked to phrase it in private, and accidentally announced the name of her sylveon, stay sort of put it together.
Chan was the one who told her to name the Espeon after herself, since it was so fitting. Sunhee had shrugged. “I guess you do evolve it with a sun-shard in the normal games.”
Chan had stared at her like she had two two heads before beginning a tangent of all the reasons Espeon was the perfect fit for her, included but not limited to:
It reads the environment with it’s fur- like you read the room
it’s very loyal to those it deems worthy,
it’s pretty,
it charges its powers up with sunlight,
its main move is confusion.
When he’s done, Sunhee just blinks at him. “I feel like you’ve put a lot of thought into this.”
Chan flushes flareon-red.
[ ᴄʜᴀɴɢʙɪɴ, ʟᴇᴀꜰᴇᴏɴ ]
Honestly, she was going to make Changbin umbreon because of the whole dark rapper aesthetic he had tried to push when they were younger (and failed miserably at) but once she’d fully committed to the whole, collecting all the eeveelutions and naming them after her members thing, Sunhee did some research.
Leafeon was perfect for him, because even though it can learn powerful attacks, all of its pokedex entries say it doesn't really fight. Just uses photo synthesis to clean the air.
And if that wasn’t the most Changbin shit she’d ever heard.
He’s sort of their emotional air purifier of the group, he’s always there to mediate during a fight. Ever since predebut, from short scraps like Sunhee and Chan had during their survival show days to Jisung and Hyunjin’s longstanding-beef, Changbin was the one to clear the air, to force them to communicate and soak up all those negative rants.
He was her best friend. Sunhee never really liked that term- the idea of singling someone out and putting them above the rest- but she holds it close to her heart when it comes to Changbin, feels right to bestow that title on him.
He’s strong, sensitive and so emotionally intelligent- he also looks good in green. So Leafeon it is.
[ ʜʏᴜɴᴊɪɴ, ꜱʏʟᴠᴇᴏɴ ]
Hyunjin ends up as sylveon.
It feels a little stereotypical to put the visual as sylveon but honestly, it suited him.
Hyunjin’s dance had become so fluid over the years, he’d really grown into himself. Sylveon gave off tall vibes, Sunhee couldn’t really explain it but it did, and the long hair totally matches the aesthetics of the long ribbons.
The ribbons weaken its enemy's guard and reduce feelings of hostility. Sylveon uses them to distract its opponent before pouncing. It needs affection or friendship to evolve rather than a shard or stone, which Sunhee feels is very fitting for Hyunjin who feels things very deeply and feeds off those around him.
Sylveon is a very elegant and gentle pokemon, favouring disarming its opponents before attacking and Sunhee knows from personal experience that Hyunjin will take every reasonable option before confrontation. He’d go in to bat for any of them if need-be, with his disarming kindness and gentle demeanour but fierce love for the eight of them.
Besides, Sylveon just looks like it would be as dramatic as him.
[ ᴊɪꜱᴜɴɢ, ᴊᴏʟᴛᴇᴏɴ ]
Jolteon was the most Jisung coded pokemon she’d ever seen.
They’re energetic, boyish and rough around the edges. Not to mention his bed-hair bares a striking resemblance to jolteon’s spikey fur…
Sunhee’s pretty sure that Jisung could generate enough static electricity to power one, if not two of their stadium concert stops if they clamped some jumper cables to his thumbs and rubbed a balloon against him for long enough.
Apparently they can also be sensitive and temperamental. Jisung has certainly put a lid on his ego of years past and has become a lot more humble, that being said, the Jisung Sunhee first got to know certainly fit the box. He was a cocky little bastard whose pride bruised easier than dropped fruit. He got into fights, worked himself into crying fits and became a ball of nerves if exposed to enough social pressure.
But with the right trainers, care and love, Jolteons become very friendly and affectionate, much like Jisung had over the years.
[ ꜰᴇʟɪx, ᴠᴀᴘᴏʀᴇᴏɴ ]
Honestly she named the Vaporeon after Felix because of that one rather lewd, copy pasta about the pokemon. She's alomst positve that he would know what it was.
It was the second evolution she’d evolved, before she’d really invested much thought into it, and it was too funny not to do it. But when the others found out about her little quest to catch them all (all being her members in eevee-form), she’d explained why Felix was vaporeon, only for him to start quoting the damn copy pasta- she’d hastily shut him up, dreading the idea of having to explain what the term ‘breeding-compatible’ meant in Korean.
All of that aside- it is quite a fitting pokemon for Felix. Supposedly, according to the pokedex, they’re very adaptable creatures, having grown gills to better suit water environments and Sunhee can’t help but think back to how quickly Felix had adapted to Korea when he first arrived.
Apparently they’re very playful and cheeky, but also very elegant. Felix matches that quite well with his joking and bouncy demeanour but practiced grace that makes itself known when he dances.
She just hopes Stay never finds out she names her vaporeon after him (they all think he’s her sylveon) let alone why.
[ ꜱᴇᴜɴɢᴍɪɴ, ᴜᴍʙʀᴇᴏɴ ]
Umbreon’s rings glow in the dark.
That’s what makes her settle on it for Seungmin, when she was about three eevee’s deep and decided there probably should be a bit of rhyme or reason to the naming method.
Seungmin shines given the right environment. Sometimes that was hard to find, as a vocalist in a group that didn’t do many ballads or vocal focused songs but when they make a track that fits him, or he does a soundtrack for a drama, he is truly one of the best vocalists Sunhee has ever heard.
Ever since the first time she heard him sing, she’d known his voice was something special and unique. And well, Umbreon was pretty damn special.
Aparently it’s also kind of fucking crazy. A guard dog for its trainers that- Sunhee is appalled to read on the wiki- will rip out the throats of attackers before eating them.
Sunhee’s pretty sure no other eeveelution could quite match the screw loose energy that Seungmin emits, quite like Umbreon.
[ ᴊᴇᴏɴɢɪɴ, ᴇᴇᴠᴇᴇ ]
Jeongin was lucky last- eevee.
Honestly, Sunhee kept him as an eevee because in some ways she still sees him as that little kid from Busan with braces and a dream. He’s still growing into his own, still becoming the best version of himself there is. They all are.
Sure it’s stupid to think he’s still a kid, he’s twenty one already, but he will always be her dongsaeng, someone she needs to look after and foster the growth of.
Besides, eevees are well-natured and impressionable. Happy, docile pokemon. Jeongin’s very fluffy too. Sunhee can’t really explain that one when he asks, just says it’s the vibe he gives off. He’s soft around the edges, a wonderful young man she’s watched grow over the years, even if he’s not that much younger than her.
Eevees adopt the traits of trainers around them and it’s something she sees very much in their Maknae, the way he’s taken pieces of them each onto himself, found space for each of them in the person he has become.
