SunPower Corporation has unveiled the most powerful home solar panels in markets across Europe, the United States and Australia – delivering 400 plus watt of power. These A-Series panels are designed to deliver 60% more energy in the same roof space over the first 25 years compared to conventional panels.
Equipped to absorb more sunlight and offer greater savings for US homeowners, the A-Series panels are built with the company’s fifth generation Maxeon solar cells – known as Gen 5 – which are 65% larger compared to earlier panels. The A-Series panels are able to deliver up to 415 watts of electricity – 15 watts higher than the third-generation Maxeon 3 panel made for homeowners in Europe and Australia.
Worldwide solar Photovolatic (PV) power demand has been experiencing exponential growth in the last decade, and will likely generate greater demand for the global residential solar energy market over the next 5 years. PV has evolved from a niche market of small-scale applications to becoming one of the main renewable sources. The declining price of solar panels has encouraged many governments to take initiatives, expecting to aid growth of the residential solar market.
Due to improvements in technology and economies of scale, the cost of solar declined – production of solar cells and modules began to ramp up around the world as a result of rising solar PV demand.
This opportunity for expansion and the introduction of highly efficient technologies pave way for solar companies like SunPower to embolden the already expanding residential solar market.
Most other solar companies manage a 300-watt threshold for home solar panels, their efficiency ratings ranging from 15-17%. Ranked as the best solar panel manufacturer by EngergySage, SunPower have efficiency ratings as high as 22.2%. Other solar majors like SolarEdge Technologies and First Solar are also making significant efforts to reap the benefits of the expanding worldwide market.
