Is it harder to get to NYC or to leave it? I've been thinking a lot lately about that place and how it stands in proxy for our great dreams, hopes, fears. Even for natives a city pregnant with meaning but for cornfed Midwesterners for immigrants for every small-town kid who dreamed of being an artist or a writer. More so. If you live day in and out in the same clothes how can you know, what else fits? Which are the you parts of you and which are the pieces of lovers and ideas and safety blankets and concepts from intellectuals you never read but seem well regarded glued together into an armor of statement that is perhaps Less than real. A light shines brightest in the dark but brighter if there are more lights and they blink and you dance around in them. A few quick shots from @sunscinema birthday and there are still a few more I have always hated taking photos when people were looking I've always hated to be watched doing anything. Even though I lost my fear of public speaking a decade ago and I lost my interest in what other people think before that. Maybe it's a unique kind of performance anxiety that holds me back.
