San Miguel de Allende is a picture perfect colonial city in the mountains of central Mexico. And there’s no better place to take in all its beauty than from one of its many rooftop bars and restaurants. And they are a great way to enjoy a sunset as well. Sunset dinner in one of the most amazing rooftop bars in San Miguel de Allende was one of the highlights of our trip. It was a relaxing place to linger and absorb the city's spectacular views and of course the magnificent sunset.

Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar atop the Rosewood Hotel perched upon a small hill is one of the best restaurant bars in San Miguel de Allende and is a destination to savor at leisure. Being a little further out of the city center you get more sweeping views of the city. The restaurant serves savory authentic Mexican and Spanish cuisine. The cocktails here are fancy and superb. Despite the swanky atmosphere the drinks are reasonably priced.

This relaxing venue invites guests to linger and absorb San Miguel’s ever-changing colors and skyline views. Though any time of day is good for a visit, the place is best experienced at sunset. The setting sun lights up the rich shades of terracotta, earthy browns, orange and yellow contrast perfectly with a vivid blue sky. Throughout the day and night, this al fresco setting presents breathtaking views of the iconic La Parroquia, spires, bell towers and rooftops across town.

Rosewood San Miguel de Allende is probably the best hotel in the city. Rosewood Hotels are internationally known for its luxurious, yet minimalist, and the Rosewood in San Miguel is just that. The crown jewel of this establishment is without a doubt the Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar.

The price is a little bit on a high side but it was all worth it for the quality of the food and the level of service. Don't miss a visit to this bar when in San Miguel de Allende. Make a reservation to secure a table and arrive about an hour before sunset. We love the place and we highly recommend it!
