not to self project, but I headcanon that Sunset Sarsparilla is popular elsewhere from the Mojave Wasteland because of the places in the U.S. where sarsparilla is already popular from Wild West association; i.e. Colorado, Utah, WYOMING, South Dakota, etc. CO probably had equal parts S.S. factories and Nuka-Cola factories making Nuka Cola Wild.
So after seeing someone else post about Nuka Cola Wild being released to compete with Sunset Sarsparilla, I started looking up drinks in the Fallout Universe. I found these little gems about Nuka Cola Quantum: 1- It had twice the calories, twice the carbohydrates, twice the caffeine and twice the taste of the other Nuka Colas. 2- The isotope it contained also caused the drinker's urine to glow for almost a week. (Why have I never seen THAT in a fanfic?!) 3- All of the testers of the first batch DIED soon after consumption...
"Legend of The Star is one quest I’m never going to finish….i looked it up on the Wiki because i was curious…and i did find the Sunset Sarsaparilla factory….i thought Festus was this wild obsessive wastelander who’d give you some Sunset Sarsaparilla based weapon for collecting the star caps, but nope….he’s just some animatronic puppet….dude should just say “be sure you drink your Ovaltine”
