I saw a post on Reddit where people were seriously questioning if The Ghoul and Norm were still alive. Did we watch the same episode? One even referred to it as a death "fake-out" and thought it was lame they did it twice in one episode. My brother in Christ. I beg you. Please snort one line of media literacy. When people commented that The Ghoul was obviously still alive, their response was, "Well I wouldn't know because I never played the game."
You don't have to have played the game to understand the rules of this universe. The last season and a half has made it clear just how resilient ghouls are. Even Lucy's reaction to having her finger taken off is different than a real human being's actual reaction would be. This is video game violence. The show also clearly shows him struggling on the pole in a way that a normal human being wouldn't be able to. Now let's talk about Norm's "death." They show him struggling, then go limp. Then Ronnie releases the tension on his neck and Norm takes a huge breath in. It's not subtle. Am I missing something? My theory is that people are on their phones while watching and they miss things, then blame the show for not spoon feeding them information. As someone who has been guilty of looking at my phone while watching TV, I say this with love: If you're not going to pay attention while watching the show, that's fine, but don't act like it's the writer's fault when you miss stuff.
