I See the Light

My muse has been locked up in a tower all of their life. Your muse is a thief who’s never known anything other than lies and crime. When your muse got roped reluctantly into taking mine to see these strange glowing lights that appear on their birthday every year, they find they aren’t so different after all.

Colette leaned into her window, tending to her little window garden. It was warm for early March, a soft breeze blowing across the grass below her. Colette often found herself standing near her window when her birthday was approaching. The pretty lights only showed themselves in the evenings on her birthday, but Colette still kept her gaze trained in that direction in hopes that some other spectacle would pop up.

Her father wouldn’t be around for another few days for her to ask him if he could take her to see the lights. She pulled her incredibly long hair over her shoulder, careful not to drag her bound and folded wings with it, and began to slowly pull her fingers through it. To be honest, she was more saddened that her father hadn’t remembered or said anything to her about her birthday. But he was busy and she didn’t want to bother him..

Colette blinked and perked up a little bit when she saw trees rustling and heard a small commotion from the forest. No one usually came this far into the woods and she was worried about who or what it might be. Closing the window, Colette moved back into the kitchen to make herself some lunch and try to distract herself

[Okay so in that scene (assuming that Yuri didn’t know what a nia fruit was) he just straight up eats a fruit that he doesn’t know about probably with the assumption that it might not kill him. Not to mention the fact that at the time he knows that 1. he’s escorting a noble/princess through the “cursed woods” and that 2. said noble/princess would likely freak the heck out if she saw Yuri being poisoned by some random fruit so that could only be the confidence of someone who has enough intuition/poison immunity to plants to not have that happen.]

[Or, assuming that Yuri does know what a nia fruit was (according to one single piece of dialogue later on that implies that), he ate the fruit even though he knew that it was probably real fucking bitter. But like. How much does he even know about a nia fruit anyway. The most that’s implied is that he knew the name. Did he know if it was edible? He clearly didn’t know how bitter it was so I have to assume that he only knew the name but it still implies that he’s completely willing to eat a fruit he hardly knows about to fill his stomach. And failed. Because it’s that bitter.]

          She gives a questioning tilt of her head, eyes looking from Zelos to the kitten and back again. Why he’d given her a kitten—and more importantly, where he’d gotten it from—was unknown to her, but it was a welcome distraction for the time being. Especially when he seemed to be acting civil with her for once.

Zelos watch Yuan selecting fruit and opted to stick with his champagne. The less he ate, the faster the buzz would take over. He could feel the edge of the tingle already, a slight sense of weightlessness and less sense of propriety when he spoke.

“Yes, because a qualifier definitely makes it all better” he said, rolling his eyes. He drained the glass and set it on a random table, picking up another one. This one wasn’t champagne, but something bright and flashy, a mixed drink of unknown origins. Whatever, a drink was a drink. He could taste the alcohol in it when he sampled it, so he decided to keep it.

“Are you even going to stick around long enough to watch the ball drop?” In the other room, a large television was broadcasting coverage from Times Square, thought the pre-show had garnered little interest from the party-goers.

“Long enough? Probably,” he shrugged , frowning at Zelos just leaving that empty glass--and frowning even more when he picked up another.

He didn’t plan to watch the Times Square nonsense, though. There was nothing particularly exciting about watching a gaudy “ball” (which was more of an icosahedron in any case) be lowered to the ground in front of a giant digital clock. He’d watch the date and time roll over on his phone, it was more impressive. And he’d quietly toast the new year, and then he’d leave promptly. In fact, maybe he should leave before that. There was no reason not to see the new year in from a quiet street as he walked home--except for the food.

“The hell is that?” he asked, casting a distrustful look at Zelos’s beverage. He didn’t particularly want to be peeling the redhead off the floor. All the more reason to leave before the party was over.
