Okay. So like, one of the things I absolutely hate about your fic is your command of the extended metaphor and the way that even when something should read as pretentious, it absolutely does not? Like, I hate that all your metaphors and analogies and shit just work, every time. And yet, when I try to do the same thing? They fall flat or feel overblown.

#sunshies #ok u know what the reason the whole cheng-korean thing throws me #is not the cheng-korean thing per se #heaven knows im impressed that people know what korea is enough to include it in popular ya lit #(and isn't that the sad part)#but because she took the time to research what the korean word for grandmother was #and slip that into Cheng's speech--#(a really contrived way to say somebody is x nationality without ever writing it out #by the way #that's not how bilingual people actually speak #) -- rather than just SAY Cheng is korean. like.... the... the fake-casualness of it is getting to me #'oh hey look. look at my attempt to be diverse. but im not going to just SAY it because that'd be like patting myself on the back #im just gonna slip it in casually. like real life'#(except it's not like real life at all #AT ALL #and it bugs me that even in a book about fantasy welsh kings #the most glaringly FAKE part of it all #is still the insertion of a korean minor character #replies #the raven cycle #fangirl life

I guess Uryuu can be Daphne and Ichigo can be Shaggy if you really want. It makes more sense given he and Renji wind up having to watch The Dr. Juggalo Show together. Fred and Daphne always go off together.
