I have no illusions that I am an “incredible author” right out of the gate, this is my beta’s notes after just a page and a half of text; most of it grammatical sins and putting an end to run on sentences along with redirecting narrative tone towards something that makes fucking sense. I also keep dropping the word “the” before nouns.

Anyway, Sunshine. Falling. Chapter Six is about 60% done.

Been an awkward month this summer, with my AC blowing out, my work office changing buildings entirely, taking on more responsibility at said work and discovering that my hair is curly writing has been enjoyable, but slow.

Chapter 5: Rainbow Road

Chapter Summary: Bart and Kon reenact a scene from The Little Mermaid (sorta).

I also give you a pancake recipe that doesn't involve whipping the daylights out of egg whites for huge fluffy pancakes.

Excerpt: Shrill screams from smoke detectors replaced Superboy’s alarm clock and he rolled out of bed in a messy tangle of sheets and limbs. Groaning dramatically, Superboy untangled himself and focused on the noise as he knelt on the floor. There was Lois swearing from the kitchen and the sound of Jon and Chris puttering down there too. “Open the window Chris! Jon, you don’t need to do that, oh for Pete’s sake, Chris! Can you fly up and push the button?” 

There was a clatter and then silence as the incessant beeping stopped. Within seconds the distinct sharp smell of something burning reached Superboy. Well, no one was screaming so the situation was clearly handled, but where was Clark in all that mess? Lifting himself from the floor, Superboy quickly got dressed in the clothes he wore the day before and joined Lois and the boys in the kitchen.

Hello I just wanted to stop by and say thank you dor writing Sunshine Falling your characterization of Bart is perfect and Kon is perfect too and so many ppl mess them up any way I wanted to ask you if it's not to much what universe does this primarily take place in or is this a complete new au? Thank you again and can't wait for new chappy

Thank you very much for your kind opinion. It means a lot that my spite fic is enjoyed by at least a few people.

As for what universe it takes place in that's difficult to place. It IS an AU. It is HEAVILY based on canon 1990s comic canon but with differences both major and minor.

The MAJOR differences so far are as follows;

There is no Dubbilex in this au. I couldn’t make him fit for this particular story. Maybe next time.

Bart is in high-school when he first shows up, not junior high. I know there are junior high schools that go for 3 years instead of 2 years in America, which may start at 6th grade or 7th grade extending to as far as 9th grade, but for plotting and timeline purposes I had to make him a Freshman. There will be a huge timeskip soon that will make this make sense.

Lex Luthor is a member of The Justice League as a subterfuge agent, his history is heavily inspired by Smallville bc it's my fic and my AU.

Rex Leech is more leechy.

Plz tell me chapter 5 of sunshine falling is coming soon and your not abandoned the fic. It is everything I want in a fic and it's been a long time since I been so excited for a fic. 😭😭😭😥

Chapter 4 "Sock Puppet" is up! Chapter Summary: Bart comes out and Superboy passes out.

Guest appearances of Chris and Jon Kent, with an interlude starring Preston, Carol and of course Bart.

This is an emotional gut-punch chapter for Kon at over 13,000 words.

“What about your parents? There’s not a lot in Smallville for Superboy to get in trouble with, it might be a better match,” said Lois as she sat on the couch, hugging one of the pillows to her. “I’m not saying I don’t want him here, he seems like a great kid. But damn Clark, I don’t know how to deal with teenagers. I thought we would be weaned into it with Chris. At least Martha and Jonathan raised a superpowered teenager. They’ll know what to expect.” 

Oh, so it wasn’t entirely settled that this was his home yet. Cool. Superboy tried not to feel hurt by it. He remained frozen in the dark hallway, listening. 

“I thought about asking them, but Lois, they are both in their 70s. It’s unfair to ask them to take him on full-time. I don’t think he’d trouble them much, but I want them to enjoy their old age.” Clark was sitting on the other end of the couch from Lois. “They would do it, and that’s why I don’t want to ask. Let them be grandparents in the twilight of their lives, not new parents.”
