I was re-reading some chapters this evening and I realized in chapter 10 Kylo brings up the possibility of a pregnancy with Rey and seems saddened with her reply. I always headcannon Kylo as either the type to literally never havethought about parenthood or someone who is terrified by the idea given his own daddy issues. Besides just searching for a way to call off Rey's execution, was this something thinking he was thinking about? Is this something you are going to explore in future chapters?
What great questions! Some of the TS readers had the impression that Kylo was eager to knock Rey up, but I promise you, 1000%, he was not thinking whatsoever about the possibility of pregnancy despite all of the unprotected sex they were having. He was thinking more about completely covering her body with his body at. all. times.
(It should be noted that Rey wasn’t thinking about that possibility either, until Leia took her aside and asked her to get birth control. It probably would have occurred to her before him, but only after they’d already had sex. Someone please help these space virgins.)
Regarding parenthood in general, I think you’re right in that he probably wouldn’t have considered it up to this point, although presumably he will at someday realize that his little empire needs an heir or designated successor to continue after he’s gone. Parenthood with Rey, though? Different story. Fathering a child with Rey would be an idea that’s really appealing to him on an abstract level, at least in TS, not because they’d create a super-strong Force baby or anything, but because there would be something in the universe that is made of them both, something tangible that inextricably links their souls in a way Rey can’t deny. And that would be something he’d want. I don’t know that he’d consider the practicalities of raising a child right away, but man, the concept.
So in chapter 10, he was mostly sad not to be able to delay Rey’s execution. Now that it had entered his mind, he also disappointed that the very abstract possibility (again, he’s not thinking about actually raising a kid or how his life would change) of creating a human life with her had no chance of being realized, but it wasn’t his main focus. The idea may come up again later, in TS or a potential sequel, but good luck sitting these two down and making them talk about the future. ;)
