Summary:

“After failing to escape from a changeling after a failed desperate attempt to prove his individual strengths to his best friend Jim (and also to himself), Toby’s found himself in the worst situation possible. Taken captive by the Janus Order, he has to survive their trials day-by-day, unless he wants his mangled body thrown into a dumpster somewhere for his friends to find. And they don’t even KNOW he’s gone.

What’s worse is that Gunmar the Black has a goal in mind for him - to make him his new general, as a personal attack on the Trollhunter, AKA Jim. That’s such great news.

And when the ancient sorceress Morgana begins appearing to Toby in cryptic dreams, he thinks, hey, this couldn’t possibly get any more horrible than it already is!

…right?”

This is going to suck really, really bad.

From where Toby’s sitting, it’s a bad time. Like, baddest of times. Badder than “Jim’s stuck in the Darklands” time, because this time it’s “Gunmar is probably going to EAT ME” bad. And that’s... bad. Does that make sense?

The troll in question stands tall in front of him, wheezing out from his nose in a rythm. Beside him are Dictatious (more like Dicktatious), a grinning Otto, and another changeling he doesn’t recognize.

His heart is racing. He really wishes that he could super-inflate right now, and he won’t even mind the ethical implications. If it breaks the ziploc and frees his hands from behind the chair and his legs from the, well, legs of the chair, then please, universe, be his guest! Anything, please, he just wants to get away from the goddamn dark troll lord staring into his soul and standing like 10 feet away.

“Ohmygod, ohmygod, ohmygod I’m gonna die,” he continues wildly whispering to himself, because he is in panic overdrive and speaking from his mouth is a relief, unlike Gunmar’s, which he might be in in like, any moment now, crunching on his bones and drinking his blood from a goblet.

Sweat is pouring everywhere. His skin is full of goosebumps. His face feels like it’s about to burst from how hard he’s gritting his teeth and how much he’s whimpering and shaking it from side to side. And if the situation would allow it, he’d love to run around in circles before his untimely doom which is getting digested in Gunmar’s stomach.

God, save him.

“I’m gonna die. This is it for me. I don’t even have a will, I didn’t even get my first kiss yet, and Jim and Claire and Nana and Dr. Lake are gonna be crying and probably put orange flowers like daisies – can daisies be orange? – on my empty coffin being lowered into a grave, because my bones are in Gunmar’s stomach! And would Darcy be there? Maybe, and wait, how about Blinky and Aaarrrgghh? Do they have their own rituals? Would my death prompt the first combined human and troll funeral-“

“WILL YOU SHUT IT, WHELP!?”

Every part of Toby stops, and he gulps.

From his racing heart to his loud whispering, it’s all put on pause. Wait, how is it whispering if it was l- no, no, Toby. There is a huge monster that can split you in half, and he is standing right in front of you. He does not look happy.

Of course, how is Gunmar’s “resting murder time face” any happy? Is it when it’s “actively murdering face”?

But right now, it’s neither. It’s a “I might just choose to murder you right now” face.

The troll scowls and growls. Oh, geez. He’s pissed.
