I was wondering, do you think a subdrop would be worse for people with depression and/or anxiety attacks? Because of the bad headspace they're already in?
Ah, hmm. It would be something that definitely should be addressed with their Dom BEFORE getting into play. The Dom should be aware of things like that, as well as triggers and so on. But after discussing it together and setting limits, it would be not much worse because they just experienced a wonderful natural high of sorts, that most likely made them feel happy at some point. And I think with the proper amount of aftercare, they may be able to avoid the drop altogether, which in turn may even help their depression and/or anxiety.
I'm sorry for seeming so lost. What is subdrop? I've heard it mentioned, yet I don't think I get it.
No no, it's okay nonny!
1. subdrop: The temporary depression experienced by submissives/masochists after intense BDSM play.
That's the urban dictionary definition but it's not entirely accurate because it doesn't even have to be an intense scene. It could just be doing a certain task a certain amount of times, so you get put into sub space and then when that is over, you start to drop. Because you feel the loss of someone having control over you.
There seems to be a common misconception that D/s is only a kink that people occasionally or regularly play out in the bedroom. And while doing so is completely okay, some fail to realize that for other people (probably more than people realize) it's not just a kink but a lifestyle. Lifestyle people feel that need, to dominate or be dominated, very deeply. So during scenes when that need is met, it's very pleasing and comforting in those moments but then when it goes away, the loss is felt so strongly that it makes them legitimately upset and sad or depressed. All of this varies from person to person of course but in general, it's a feeling of loss and mixed emotions. Aftercare many times does wonders in helping those experiencing subdrop.
Here's a post talking a bit more about it from someone's personal experience. (not graphic)
