Summary: Your boyfriend surprises you with your dream home & a proposal to go with it.
A/N: Inspired by Lover by Taylor Swift 🌊🌙⭐️
---------------------------------------------
“Swear to be over dramatic and true to my lover”, this line from one of my favorite Taylor Swift songs echoed through my head as my boyfriend helped me out of a car with a blindfold around my eyes. I hated surprises and I wasn’t the kind of person who liked to walk into something unprepared. I was a minimalist and I liked things a certain way, obviously as you can guess, my boyfriend was the exact opposite. He was the kind to do things for no reason- like kick the punching bag in our room just for fun when he woke up or create a song about fishing and have it go accidentally viral across the globe.
Y/N- Seokjin, where are you taking me!??
Jin- That’s the 95th time you’re asking me that, love. We’re almost there.
As soon as I heard the beep of the car locking behind me, I saw my moment of opportunity and tried to remove the blindfold, just as a pair of hands prevented me from doing that and clasped across my waist. He lifted me effortlessly in his arms and strung me along his broad shoulders as I tried to fight him and get him to put me down. I could feel my cheeks burn red at the thought of being carried across a street while others were watching, I couldn’t see their reactions but I could hear the whispers and gasps of judgy and conservative Korean ahjummas as they saw this PDA in the middle of a street.
Y/N- Okay, okay I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have cheated. I won’t do it again, I promise.
Jin- I trust you with my secret pasta sauce recipe but not this. You’re too clever for your own good. Stop fighting me, love. People are going to think I’ve kidnapped you.
Y/N- Paita! Paita!
I stopped struggling but I knew I couldn’t just cave in this easily and so I started singing super chamchi at the top of my voice. I knew not only would it ensure that people would stop taking us seriously but at the same time, it would annoy Jin to no end which I found super entertaining.
Jin- Nooo you didn’t just resort to that. This is violence! I didn’t know you had it in you to be this mean.
Y/N- Well, I’m just protecting you. This way no one will think you’re kidnapping you.
Jin- As if, you’re doing this as payback. Could’ve fooled them but not me. Serves me right to pick a fangirl as my girlfriend. ARMYs are the most resourceful people on the planet, always getting what they want.
I smirked with pride, really pleased at how this was going. He might be the one carrying me in his arms but I was the one in control. Seeing him flustered was one of my favorite Seokjin things. Even with the blindfold on, I could imagine the way his ears were turning pink and the expression on his face as I outsmarted him. But just then I felt him gently place me on the ground, I could feel cobblestones under my feet and the street had suddenly gotten quieter. I could feel a soft breeze blowing from one end and only the sounds of birds chirping as everything else seemed to slow down and come to a halt.
He took off my blindfold in one swift move and offered me his hand. I slipped my palm into his reflexively like I’d done a thousand times before as we stared at the door of a quaint little cottage and he unlocked it with a key. It briefly reminded me of their In the Soop set but way more low-key. We were at the periphery of the city, this house was all that stood between the concrete jungle and the green forest behind us. As we stepped into the house, I realized it was literally a shrine paying homage to both worlds. On one hand, it had all the modern amenities we might need, on the other it had more natural light and open settings than I’d seen any house in Seoul have. He knew how much I hated the Hybe office for being so high, so boxed and closed off and this house was contradicting that architecture in every way possible.
His mark was all over the place, I could see that he’d styled every nook and cranny himself. And yet, the things he’d done were not for himself, they were for me. He’d gotten it all right, from the reading corner near the window to the garden out back along with the marble top kitchen counter. He’d built me my dream house without even letting me get a whiff of what he was upto.
Jin- I know you don’t like big gifts but I just saw this house on a drive down and it screamed your name! I knew it was meant to be yours the moment I laid my eyes on it. I actually didn’t spend a lot on it, the builders were going to tear it down and make a high rise and you would’ve hated such a beautiful cottage to go to waste like that. I’m just preserving history and nature, you can’t blame me for that right?
Y/N- How do you know me so well? I can’t even blame you, not after that.
Jin- Good, so then I’ll just continue. I really want you to have this. A home where you can decide the rules, where you can leave the Christmas lights up till January, where you can have your K-pop merch in plain sight, where you can do what makes you happy. And before you freak out… you can totally pay me back for the house if you ever decide to shift in. And… we don’t have to live here together. I know you don’t like to rush things and marriage isn’t on the cards. It’s all up to you… whether or not you keep the home. Whether or not, we decide to live here… together. I don’t want to force your hand, I just wanted to say… that the option exists. Whenever you’re ready, whether now or in a few months or in a few years. And that this house and I will wait for you, with it's door and my heart open for you to walk in.
Y/N- You’re wrong. I mean you’ve been right about everything until this… I love the house. And I love you. And yes, it’s true that I’ve only known you a short while but it feels like I’ve known you for years. Even though I’m aware that I wanted to take things slow and marriage was definitely not on the cards. That was before I met you and that was before I stepped inside this threshold. Do you know what I saw the moment I walked in? I saw breakfasts with you on this table, sunsets with you in the garden and cold nights in winters snuggled with you in that bed. I see our kids opening their presents in the hall under that Christmas tree and even though this is against everything I’ve stood by so far. I think I’m ready, I want this house and I want you. So let’s not wait, I want to go where you go. I want to be this close to you forever and I want to come home to you. Let’s move in and let’s put a nameplate on front that spells out- Mr & Mrs. Kim Seokjin.
Jin- Really? Do you mean it?
Y/N- Well, I do have to check my bank balance and make sure I can afford this house and a wedding. But yes, I’m in. I want to be your wife, Jinnie.
Jin- I want to be your husband, Y/N-ssi.
The smile on his face at that moment was priceless, it was the happiest I’d ever seen him. And I could feel it even as I leant forward and pressed my lips to his, I could feel the warmth of our love and joy radiate through our bodies. Even as the cold breeze swept in through the window and the fireplace lay barren, I knew I was as cozy and safe as I could be. I had always dreamt of this happening but never been brave enough to believe it could come true. I had been cautious with all my relationships, worried that I’d end up hurting myself if I let myself believe in the good. But now that I was here, I finally was ready to take the leap of faith. To hope for good things and know that I deserved them. To be certain that they wouldn’t go away and that I’d protect and cherish them for summers to come. I was finally right where I belonged- in my comfort home, with the man of my dreams. And I couldn’t help but remember another lyric from the song- “ My heart’s been borrowed and yours has been blue, all’s well that ends well to end up with you.”
THE END. 🌊🌙⭐️
