Pet Roommate AU

Posted this earlier on the SL Discord group but figured I should post it here too.

Ren is a successful researcher who lives alone, he takes his friends’ joking advice to get a pet too seriously when he encounters a scruffy/dirty guy trying to take shelter from the rain on his way home. He helps Haru get dry and gives him pjs for the night. The next morning, they eat breakfast together and Ren leaves for work, telling him to leave whenever. When Ren gets home that evening, Haru’s still there. That’s how their romcom starts as Ren calls Haru his dog to try to deter the guy from staying but Haru just eats it up and enjoys Ren’s weird pampering.

They develop a routine where Ren sleeps in his own bed and Haru sneaks in every night to spoon, they wake up together when Ren hits him over the head and calls him a bad dog. While Ren is getting ready for work Haru will be making breakfast and prepping snacks for Ren to take in to work with him. While Ren is gone Haru cleans up the place, goes grocery shopping, and helps out around the area if he sees someone in need during his exploration of the neighborhood. In the evenings, he welcomes Ren home with a hug and smile, hanging the other man’s coat on a rack as Ren heads to change into lounge wear. They chat on the couch for a bit, with Ren sitting up and Haru laying his head on Ren’s lap while the researcher plays with his hair absentmindedly. They chat about Ren’s research and Haru’s day. They eat dinner together and Haru will attempt to climb into the bath with Ren every night but will be denied just to try again the following day. Without realizing it, they’ve been cohabiting for a month.

Ren keeps complaining about the mutt who wormed his way into his home and how he has to take care of his pet with such an annoyed tone with underlying fondness that his friends in the office start to bring little doggy toys to give to Ren who doesn’t really think much of it and who hands the presents to Haru. After about a week of hearing about this mysterious dog, they ask Ren what breed he is and Ren just goes “Does it matter? Troublesome is what he is.” 

Ren buys a dog collar at the suggestion of his coworkers who worry when he mentions that Haru likes to be out and about while Ren is at work. Haru gets such a chuckle out of it that he starts to wear the collar in the evenings which... unlocks something primal in Ren.

ABO RenHaru...

I want a!Ren who’s really inexperienced and awkward doing his best to court o!Haru, his older neighbor with an intoxicating scent and gorgeous blooming eyes. I want ABO, yes... but I also want neighbors au!!!

Shut in Ren goes outside every morning at 7:45am to watch his gorgeous neighbor take out the trash right as Haru gets home from work.

Ren watches Haru help their elderly neighbors carry their groceries up the stairs.

Haru gets sick one week and doesn’t go to work nor does he get up early to take out his garbage so he gets a knock from his neighbors wanting to check up on him. The noise alerts his shy next door neighbor to come over too and that’s the first time Haru ever has a conversation with the young adult.

Since that instance, Haru does his best to say hello to his neighbor and begins to notice those brown smoldering eyes watching his every move.

Haru finds it cute and purposely shows off. Sometimes he stares in Ren’s direction and winks just to have the poor guy blushing with embarrassment over being caught staring.

Super Lovers x Absolute Boyfriend crossover uhhh like everyone knows Haru has terrible luck with women and he’s so busy at work so he wants some form of easy companionship and signs up for a house cleaning Android.  He orders a ‘cute’ version because he wants someone to cuddle with but didn’t realize he would get a ‘child’ Android! Ren the android is very dry/serious but Haru just assumes it’s because Ren is a new Android without any user preferences set up yet, and he’ll become friendlier as Haru interacts with him. Turns out Ren is just a snarky little shit Ren: I’m not a ‘child’! Androids don’t have ages!!
