MARK McCABE, Live From The Vault

WE'RE BACK! 

So here we are again - after much too long on the back-burner, we are excited to be back on the interwebs with another SUPERCOMA session for your delectation.  

For this special midnight session we hooked up with Mark McCabe in a dimly-lit vault in the starry depths of the Angus countryside.  Hailing from Kirriemuir, Angus, Mark delivers us all a handful of self-penned poignancy as well as the following Bright Eyes cover. Enjoy...

PETER GABRIEL - SLEDGEHAMMER

It's hard to decide what to post for a first-ever blog entry.  After much contemplation I have decided to set the tone with one of my all-time favourite songs accompanied by one of the greatest music videos of all time.  For some unexplained reason, this video only has 500,000-odd views on the youtube machine - Ocean Colour Scene's 'The Day We Caught The Train' has over 600,000.  Make of that what you will.

Anyway, sit back, relax, open your third eye and let Peter take you on a magical mystery plastecine tour, I'll see you on the other side...

MILWALKIE, unplugged in a tiny, remote church...

I became close friends with the founding members, brothers Matt & Steve Morris back in 2011 shortly before they were due to move the newly-formed band to Berlin in search of adventure, good beer and a drummer.  During a spell living back in Scotland, Matt agreed to take a drive with myself and fellow cameraman Rab Hill to a remote church on the banks of the river Dee with an acoustic guitar and a couple of cameras in tow.

Matt decided to play 'You're Late' - one of my favourite tracks from Milwalkie's second, and latest, album 'No Routes'.  The album version of this track is an upbeat, rousing ride of bright guitar melodies with, in my opinion, the most driving and affective chorus on the whole album.  The downplayed, unplugged version of the song which Matt played on the day gives a whole new dimension to the track and really lets the melancholic lyrics stand out and somehow perfectly compliment the most Scottish of drizzle falling against the stained glass of this tiny, beautiful kirk.  I hope you enjoy this as much as we did filming it.
