I don't see how, really. The gameplay doesn't allow for it, unless you consider a second person hovering over your shoulder and following along with you co-op.
So outside of some Mario Party style minigames from the main menu, I don't see it ever happening. I'd be down with Athena's hollow leg being pit against Maya's multiple stomachs in an Ace Attorney themed version of that Lickitung minigame from Pokemon Colosseum on N64.
Dear superhighschoollevelredacted,
They were alright, but I didn't use them. I do like Phoenix's old suit better than his new vest, but I didn't use it either because it took away his locket with Trucy's picture in it and that's unacceptable.
I did like one touch to Apollo's DLC outfit, though:
He has one of Ema's buttons on his backpack strap. I guess this means she has finally accepted him like she has Phoenix. I miss AJ Ema, you guys.
I've heard some, but I've been avoiding PLvsPW things for the most part. I'd like it to be as fresh as possible when I finally get to play it myself. Still waiting on that NA release date.
Europe, why you gotta be this way?
Dear TheFlightlessPhoenix,
3.) I'll have to play the game to make a definitive statement for the blog, but as of right now I'm going to assume that Phoenix and Maya being sucked into a magical book isn't a canon happening. Their actions and dialogue in the game will help me better hone their character, however, since that is how they would really react in the given situations.
As for the Layton series, if anything will make me give it another chance, it will probably be PLvsPW. I can definitely see why people like the series so much, but I just wasn't into all the puzzles personally.
Funny enough, there's a letter in the queue Phoenix himself just answered about this. I'll let him speak for himself when it rolls around, but the gist of it is that he was keeping his ear to the poker circuit in hopes of finding Zak. That's my take on it, anyway.
It could also be that he actually just wasn't any good at art either. I had fine art classes mixed in with my graphic arts classes and I'm still quite crappy at it myself.
And yes, I got the spider. I tried blowing it out with canned air but I think that just concussed it to death, so I fished it out with a bent paperclip. It was bright yellow so it was probably just some harmless flower spider from the plants next to me, but I still didn't want it crawling around under my keys. Besides the surprise of it coming up to say hello, I didn't want it mushed in my keyboard either.
Simon's really not like Edgeworth. Simon has a real dark sense of humor and tries to come off as mysterious and dangerous whether he succeeds or not. To be honest, I'm still trying to get into his skin and it's a work in progress.
In a way, he's like Franziska in that they were both one way the entire game until the very end where the other side is revealed. Franziska we got to see again in T&T, so assuming Simon returns in AA6, I think that could really help me nail down who he really is. Not that it helps me right now!
DD Apollo is slightly different from his AJ self. He's still an easily disgruntled grump at times, but over all he's a lot more at home. Phoenix isn't this shady chessmaster any more and so he's beginning to really respect his boss like he hoped he could originally. Plus with Athena around, he's not the new kid any more so he like more of a veteran. He feels less like the low man on the totem pole, you could say.
Mrs. Victoria is just a name I came up with (and a nod to one of the games in my under-appreciated games list) because no one would sign a letter as "Your son's teacher". So yes, shame on me. I do think it's safe that Capcom won't ever give her a name, though.
I do get the occasional NSFW submission but it's very rare. You guys are a pretty great bunch and understand I try to keep this blog T rated like the games. Although with DD being M rated, I can't really use that excuse any more.
I did get fanmail from someone wanting to, quote, "lick [my] thing" once too. I appreciate the offer, but as a gentleman I must decline.
Lastly, there has been no mention of Edgeworth even having a mother, let alone who she was. In cases like this, you have to use the lack of evidence as evidence. Edgeworth never mentions his mother, leading me to believe she was gone early in his life, or even possibly dying in child birth. In AAI2, when you play as Gregory, he never mentions her either or even wears a ring. It's also possible there was a horrible break up or Miles was a child out of wedlock. No one can say for sure.
But then again, this is Ace Attorney. All parents are dead. Everyone is Batman.
I have played MegaMan X, but I don't see any similarities. If anything, with his eyepatch and coat redesign to make him "cooler", Apollo is more like Metal Gear's Raiden than anything else. The analogy even works when you consider that people didn't want to play as him after AJ, but were suddenly fine with him when he was improved in the next game.
Basically what I'm saying is when he was facing off against Phoenix, they should have been playing this the whole time.
I fully expect Capcom to go forward with AA6 being the next year after DD.
However, I would totally be down with a Mia game using rookie Phoenix as the assistant. I'd also like a Diego game with rookie Mia assisting. They would probably just be fanservice and wouldn't do anything for the series mythos as a whole, but hey, neither did AAI. I'd just like to see those relationships again and further expanded upon.
Something set during Phoenix's disbarment would be really nice too. Those years are just a black hole of plot and one of my biggest problems with AJ. We know now he went on some European adventures with Edgeworth, so maybe it could be AAI3.
But if you're asking what I want the most, I just want Maya back. I want her back so bad.
Oh geez, been a while since I played. Bear with me as I try to remember what they're all supposed to mean. Actually, I'll just cheat and use the wiki.
Phoenix would be the Fool, obviously. Just ask Franziska (who is probably the Empress).
Judging by Junpei and Yosuke, that would make Larry the Magician.
Godot is the Tower, considering his arrogance and fall from grace. That one's easy.
Maya would probably be either Priestess or Sun, so either her untapped wisdom and power or her joyful optimism and energy; whichever you feel better represents her. (Or Hunger, lololol)
So I guess that would similarly make Mia either Priestess or Empress.
Edgeworth would probably be Death, considering his huge change in personality. He could also be the Hermit, for his intelligence and reclusiveness.
Apollo would be Justice, of course, and it's not just for the pun. He tends to be the more objective member of the WAA, at least until he gets upset. Does Justice account for the chip on his shoulder?
Athena would be Chariot, I suppose, symbolizing her drive for becoming an attorney and her forceful, often hot-headed personality.
Simon would be Hanged Man, for his obvious self sacrifice.
That's enough, I think. I'm still waiting for my Persona/Ace Attorney crossover here. With Atlus currently milking their franchise for all it's worth and Capcom desperate for money, this seems so obvious.
