How did you get along with the paper version of your brother?

Thoughts of Yooka-Laylee? also, have you played it's sequel too?

I believe I've posted my thoughts on Yooka Laylee already but a quick recap...

The game felt really good to control, I liked Yooka and Laylee as characters a lot and I think Capital B is just as fun as King K. Rool or Gruntilda. 

But the side characters were mostly forgettable, I liked Rextro and Karto but was pretty indifferent to the rest. And I feel like the level design was just way too big, which is coming from a fan of Banjo Tooie.

I think the problem with the levels isn’t just that they’re big, it’s that there is so much unused space and the quills don’t feel like they were placed very thoughtfully, and don’t really stand out much, which can make them blend in with the levels... and it seems like it could have been more polished.  Yooka’s ability to grab far off ledges was sooooo finicky.  

I am really bummed out that the game was a top tier 3D platformer but I did have enough fun with it.  I don’t really beat games that I don’t enjoy, and I beat Yooka Laylee.

I have not played Impossible Lair yet. I want to but I’m waiting for a good deal on a physical release.   It’s cool that they went with Tropical Freeze style, but I do hope they try 3D again. I don’t really care much about new 2D platformers since those are still around. It’s 3D Platformers that I’m thirsty for.

Are You getting Super Mario Odyssey on launch day?

You know it.

Don’t have it pre-ordered but I doubt it will be difficult to find.

what character are you going to play first on Ultimate?

I mean this is basically tradition for me with any Smash game ( though at the time of Smash 64, Pokemon was the hot thing so I probably played Pikachu first back then )

After that it’s going to be Link because I hear he’s the fastest way to unlocking K. Rool

do you like another SEGA game besides Sonic?

Yes, but admittedly, there aren’t very many.

I really like Skies of Arcadia a lot. It’s my favorite Sega franchise that isn’t Sonic. I hope Sega revives it sometime.

I really liked Ristar, though I never made it very far. I don’t think I ever passed that fiery level with the boss that looked like Sandslash.

And I kind of like NiGHTS as a character and the story concept, and the world built around it, but I really couldn’t get into the game when I played it.

I’m interested in Shining Force but I haven’t had the chance to play it much, I’ve got other games on the table.

And I wanted to play Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg after I played the demo that I got on a compilation disc for preordering Sonic Adventure, but I never got around to buying it. If the Switch gets Gamecube Virtual Console, I’d gladly try it.

Least favorite Mario game?

That’s a huge ocean of games to pick from, so I’m going to narrow this down to the main line Mario games if you don’t mind.

And that’s a tie between Super Mario Bros the Lost Levels, and NEW Super Mario Bros 2.

Lost Levels is too hard, but not hard in a good way, it’s like a bad romhack. To this day I can’t finish this game.

NSMB2 because it was not necessary. It was just a year before New Super Mario Bros U, and it’s main gimmick was super lame. When people rip into the NSMB games for being stale and samey, this is the only one of the bunch I can’t defend.

About Sonic questions, How about 2, 9, and 11?

2. How did you hear about Sonic?

Honestly probably the same answer as number 1.  I had to stay with my Aunt during some rough times, she didn’t have a Super NES, she had a Sega, and she had Sonic games, I was immediately hooked on the character and loved him for years even though I never personally owned a Sega Genesis.

9. How many Sonic games do you own?

If we’re talking “Games that I paid for that are currently still in my possession...” and if we’re counting digital games, and collections count as one,  I would say 18.  I used to have more, but I lost several of them some time ago.

11. AoSTH, Satam or Sonic X?

Ehhh probably AoSTH, I don’t think any of the shows are particularly good but AOSTH at least has one of the most fun incarnations of Robotnik to date.  SatAM has some good points but I think the comic book did everything better.  X... I’m just not really big on anime and the show was really brought down by the human element.

what's your favorite Dragon Quest game so far?

Honestly probably Eleven. I haven’t been so enchanted by an RPG since Skies of Arcadia. The characters are fantastic, it is very traditional classic JRPG while still feeling like a modern game, which is not something I can say for some other RPGs that try to stick to their established formula, and honestly, it’s basically a “Best of Dragon Quest” game, it seriously has just about everything that makes Dragon Quest great with no serious omissions and none of the bad.
