Sorry I left this sitting here!! I'd never heard of The Angry Beavers until just now (mentioned the dragon to a friend and he explained it to me) so I literally had no clue how to answer.

So naturally, the answer is no! I didn't watch a lot of TV as a kid -- I preferred (and still prefer!) reading. So Norbert is actually referencing Harry Potter! Though the dragon will ACTUALLY BE A BOY, since Norberta sounds kinda silly to me.

The Chao, on the other hand, is kind of gonna be a subtle sort of plot thing so I can't talk much about it yet... But what I CAN say is that (again, for plotty-ish reasons!) it is going to be considered a girl even though it's genderless.
