even’s already written today off as a bad day.

actually, he’s written himself off as a bad person. stupid, annoying, unworthy of love. he’s not sure why isak bothers with him - maybe that explains why he stayed out late with jonas.

upset is rising in his throat, and he wants to cry and scream and lie silently and give up all at once, so he just stays where he is in bed and tries not to breathe.

isak chooses now to walk back in the door. even doesn’t acknowledge him.

“hey, baby,” he calls gently. even just turns over, and hears isak’s saddened sigh. “do you need anything?” he asks.

even pulls the covers up higher, over his head now, still doesn’t answer. what’s the point.

he can hear isak moving around, pulling his shoes off, making himself comfortable. even doesn’t know if he can handle having him around. he pulls the covers closer around him, aware he’s being selfish, but not having the energy to change it.

the bed sinks with the weight of isak sitting down next to him.

“hey,” he says, voice gratingly soft. it goes right through to even, making him shiver with the kindness that he doesn’t want or need or deserve.

but he doesn’t have the energy to tell isak to go away.

“even…” isak tries. “i’m here, okay?”

even screws his eyes shut, presses his face further into the pillow. “you shouldn’t be,” he spits, voice muffled by the pillow, but somehow still audible to isak.

“why not?” he reaches out a hand to rest on even’s covered body, but even shoves it off.

“you should just leave,” he says. “just walk out - and then just don’t come back. you’ll be happier, and i’m better off alone anyway.”

he runs out of energy when all of that is said. the effort he was using to hold tears in runs out, and his cheeks feel wet now.

isak doesn’t speak for a minute. even can only assume he’s realising that even’s right.

“what have i told you about being alone?” isak says gently, and even thinks he can hear the patient smile through the words. “you’re not. ever.”

he doesn’t try to touch even again.

“i’m not going anywhere. i’ll sleep on the floor tonight if i have to. but you’re not alone, and i won’t let you be alone, okay?”

even doesn’t respond.

“i love you.”

he loosens his grip on the covers.

ANYWAY the things when i wrote that line is mainly about them missing each other a lot and kind of not realising how much they missed each other?? and not realising how much they still mean to each other until even considers letting other people mean the same thing to him as isak does???? also u know the feeling when u cant believe a thing is real and u have to keep making sure its real by touching it yeah thats a thing that theyre doing i dont know what im sayingskjsfjksldfsjkf

basically even kept zero contact with anyone at all including isak and hes kind of like woah i still feel all of these things for u wtf and isak is like woah u got away without keeping in touch with me at all thats not happening again i want u to stay here pls (isak u failure) also this line was just like,,,,,estabishing that they belong together forever pls and thanks

they’re ok thank you!! getting betterer at least, still a lil bit sleepy sleepy but i’m pretty positive that they will be fine (it’s always rlly worrying when tiny kittens get ill bc they can go downhill so quickly) they’re sleeping on me at the moment but i will post some pictures soon :D
