3rd and brightest of the year, Supermoon
Last supermoon of the year 2014: captured in San Francisco at Twin Peaks, approximately 8:30pm PST. The moon was ever bright, and lit over the city we call home.
As thunderstorms passed through the area, I wasn’t very optimistic about getting a shot of the rising September supermoon.
However, while looking toward Athens, there was the briefest break of clouds.

After an awkward fight with humidity and a broken tripod, I was feeling ready enough to call it in a night and sleep through the August Supermoon.
To be fair, the tripod is from the early 90’s and was salvaged from an Atheinain dumpster and then gifted to me.
Truly it was the best gift anybody has ever given me.

Around 3:00am. Looking toward Modern Corinth, fields and sea drenched in moonlight.
The Sleepless Dream
Only one thing can get me up before sunrise: the anticipation of something beautiful happening out there, waiting to be immortalized in a picture and shared with the world.
After 40 minutes of sleep, I walked down to the beach, took a deep breath and made a small tripod out of rocks.
Sunrise was approaching and stars were vanishing. The moon was quickly fading and I had to move fast.

A few hours later, this photo was published in EarthSky
I literally cried with happiness.

THREE DAYS
Dad and I just spent a good four hours playing with our new telescope and getting a good long look at the supermoon. Now we're partially blind. Whoopsies! It'll wear off by tomorrow. Best night of the summer!
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's SUPERMOON!!!!
("Except not exactly!" cries the clump of angry astrophysicists and astronomers in the distance.)
