“There you are,” she says, her soft voice ringing through his aural canals. “I was wondering when you’d get back. Was starting to think you were maybe…avoiding me.” Deft fingers trace his cowl. His keel. Move through the spaces between his plates. “Is that it? Have you been avoiding me?” He opens his mouth plates to respond but finds himself lacking any of his vocals. “Playing hard to get, huh?”
The warm feeling of her body disappears from around him. No, no, no. He wants it back. Where did she go? Why did she leave? How could she—?
“Don’t worry, I’m right here.” Those fingers move along his waist. Trace the divots of his hip spurs. “I’ll take care of you. Don’t you trust me?” More than anyone. He still can’t find his voice, but maybe she can hear his thoughts. “Good.” Maybe he’s right. Then he’s being pushed back. Feels the weight of her. “Did you miss me?” Yes. Spirits, yes. “Do you want me to make it up to you?” I want— “I know.” He feels warm breath against his mandibles. Against his mouth plates. So close. “Garrus…”
