This originally came from an old drawing I made for March 10th 2014, putting late Barry Sheene at the center of a party in heaven with other motorbike racing riders who already left us. But actually it was just an sketch. And the concept was "Barry Sheene, the soul of the party". Originally, Kato and Simoncelli appearing together and taking a selfie was only in background, on "chibi" mood and they had glasses, for relate them with hipster looks. But I decided to draw them on big size and less hipster-like. I put them together because of similitudes on their lives, careers and also on their tragedies: Both were 250cc champions, both their titles were defined in Sepang, both died during races in their second year in MotoGP class, both were part of Gresini and were very well liked for the ones working there and Mr. Fausto Gresini himself, both were considered promises, both were placed on MotoGP Legends list posthumously, both had a decent fanbase in their homecountries, both had some certain degree of funny mood, both had very characteristic and easily recognizable looks and aesthetical tastes (Kato's bottle blonde and the eyes design on rear of helmet; Sic's giant hair) and both their passings caused a very serious shock in MotoGP. #drawing #random #motogp #DK74 #supersic58
